More than 1,000 people call to help VFL Albert Haynesworth, hospital says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Vanderbilt Medical Center told WVLT News that more than 1,000 people have their offices or emails seeking to help VFL Albert Haynesworth.

Haynesworth announced on Instagram that he is in need of a kidney.

In the post, Haynesworth said, "Some of you may have been a kid."

Haynesworth went on to say that his kidneys failed him on July 7, 2019.

"It's hard to believe from being a professional athlete to only 8 season retirement that my body has taken another major blow."

Haynesworwth said, "Please call Vanderbilt at 615-936-0695."

"There are so many hundred people waiting for you to match someone else too, you know something to think about as well." Tennessee Donor Service's Billy Jarvis told WVLT News. "About 100,000 waiting for a kidney, yes they make up over three fourths of the waiting list."
