Only Labour can defeat the politics of division and fear.

A week today, the European elections are an opportunity for Labour and our movement to start to bring our divided country together.

Only Labour can defeat the politics of division and fear. That’s why we need you to help elect Labour MEPs on May 23rd and see off the growing threat from the far right.

Labour is the only party with a sensible alternative to the Tories’ Brexit plan, an alternative which protects jobs, living standards and communities.

We need to bring an end to this Conservative chaos, so a radical Labour government can tackle the other big issues facing our country.

It’s clear this disintegrating Tory government cannot deal with the challenge of Brexit – and will not act to end the austerity and growing inequality that has fuelled and deepened the current crisis.

We need a general election to break the deadlock. And if that can’t be achieved, and we can’t get agreement in Parliament along the lines of our alternative plan, we will back the option of a public vote.

I am very worried about how divided our society has become. We need real solutions now, not the scapegoating of migrants or blaming the EU for unjust Tory policies and an economic model rigged in favour of the richest.

Labour is the only party which stands in the way of the snake oil salesmen like Farage – and we stand up to the far-right thuggery of the likes of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (who calls himself Tommy Robinson).

We must halt the advance of racism and fake populism at the ballot box next week – with the real alternative of socialist solutions and progressive internationalism.

Electing Labour MEPs will help us work with socialists and others across Europe for better jobs, an inclusive and diverse society and action to tackle the climate emergency.

The stronger our performance in these elections, the stronger our springboard for success at a general election.

Together we can build a country for the many, not the few.

Signed, Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Labour Party
