Chris Evans has over a MILLION listeners to his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show official figures reveal
CHRIS Evans has more than a million listeners to his Virgin Radio breakfast show, official figures revealed today.
The 53-year-old DJ has seen the audience rocket seven-fold compared to the previous year – making Virgin the fastest-growing national station in Britain.
He said: “Last year, I said I wanted a new mountain to climb. And the view from the top of the News Tower isn’t half bad.
“But really this is just base camp. I’m back in my spiritual home and loving every minute of it.”
Figures for January to March this year show there were 1.05 million people tuning in to the programme every week.
He has also boosted Virgin’s entire schedule with the audience trebling quarter-on-quarter to 1.4million listeners.
Chris joined the station on 21 January, opening his first show with a live performance of Lucky Man by Richard Ashcroft.
Since then, the Chris Evans Breakfast Show – which is ad-free thanks to a partnership with Sky – has seen a host of celeb guests, including Keifer Sutherland and Andrew Garfield.
Listeners also got to enjoy all the build-up to Chris running the London Marathon last month as one of Barbara Windsor’s ‘Revolutionaries’.
He completed the course in 4hrs 48mins and gave his marathon medal to wife Natasha after she carted their four young children around to watch him running.

“The breakfast slot has grown its audience to over one million listeners – seven times what it was in the last quarter – while Virgin Radio UK has trebled its overall audience year-on-year thanks to Chris and our friends at Sky.”
He added: “This is the first milestone in our ambition to become the UK’s leading commercial digital station and we are all delighted.”
