WILD Bill viewers were left shocked tonight as a severed head was found in a freezer as Rob Lowe’s gritty new drama made its debut.
The six-part series sees Rob’s character Bill and his teenage daughter Kelsey move across the pond from Miami to become Chief Constable of East Lincolnshire’s police force.
Excited viewers were keen to tune in to see The West Wing actor star in the ITV drama.
Within the first ten minutes they were face with a gruesome scene when a young woman’s head was discovered.
One said: “Severed head in the freezer in first fifteen minutes….great! This is really good. I love Rob Lowe.”
Another added: “Didn’t expect the head in the fridge .”
Someone else chimed: “Cracking 1st episode of #WildBill Great to see #Boston and #Lincolnshire portrayed in a really enjoyable drama.
“Wind turbine scene was FAR more freaky than the severed head! Great work @RobLowe @ITV , looking forward to Episode 2.”
Hard-nosed copper Bill is running away from his painful past in the Magic City to start afresh by becoming the
Rob’s character is set to come up a host of hurdles from his colleagues and neighbours as he settles into his new role.
His Deputy, Lydia Price (played by Anjli Mohindra), makes no secret of her disdain for him and frustration at being overlooked for the job.
Showrunners Jim Keeble and Dudi Appleton have said of the upcoming show:
“Wild Bill gives us a chance to write about modern Britain and modern crime through unique eyes.
“We wrote this for Rob Lowe, for his smart-talking, anarchic, soulful voice.
“Displacing Rob in Brexit Britain and specifically in Boston, Lincolnshire allows us to tell stories that are left-field and unexpected.
“We wanted to write something that couldn’t take place anywhere else, or at any other time.”
Earlier today Rob teased the US political drama The West Wing will return – with his character Sam Seaborn as president.
The Hollywood star, 55, starred as Deputy White House Communications Director Seaborn for four years between 1999 and 2003 and was nominated for an Emmy and two Golden Globes in the Best Actor categories.
Despite previously falling out with show bosses over a reported pay dispute, Lowe revealed he’s ready to revisit the show.
He told BBC Radio Five Live: “Of course I’m in. I’m in my suit ready to play Sam Seaborn.
“I think all he needs to do, frankly, is go back and watch the show where [President Josiah Bartlet] says ‘Sam, you’ll be president one day, don’t be afraid’.”
“There’s your show. Hello, Aaron Sorkin, hello, you wrote it.”
Lowe reportedly earned $70,000 an episode during his time on the show but was unable to negotiate a raise to bring him closer to his good friend and co-star Martin Sheen’s salary which was more the four time more, according to Entertainment Weekly.

However, there were no hard feelings between the actors themselves with Lowe saying Sheen’s work as President Bartlet: “It was always a surprise and a source of some consternation among both fans and the folks responsible for making The West Wing that Martin Sheen never won an Emmy for playing one of the landmark roles in TV history.”
