Church of Scotland minister, 32, sacked over ‘misconduct with several women’
A CHURCH of Scotland minister has been sacked after several women accused him of “misconduct”.
Rev Dr Elijah Wade Smith, 32, is said to have abused his position in Glasgow just four years into the job.
A special committee of the Presbytery of Glasgow launched a probe into the allegations earlier this month and upheld the complaint.
Dr Smith, from California, USA, was removed as a minister last week following the disciplinary hearing.

A Church of Scotland spokesman said: “A Presbyterial Commission was convened to consider complaints against Dr Elijah Smith, who was then minister at Queen’s Park Church.
“The complaints were upheld and a sentencing hearing was held on Wednesday, May 15.
‘The decision of the church court was to remove Dr Smith’s status as a minister.”
Dr Smith, described as one of the church’s rising stars, was ordained at Queen’s Park Church, Govanhill, Glasgow, in January 2015.
He moved to Scotland to study for a PhD at St Andrews University and became the Church of Scotland’s second-youngest minister.
The National reports his congregation at Queen’s Park were first told he had been simply suspended, without offering a reason.
Before the decision of the Presbyterial Commission, the Rev Ewan Kelly, associate minister of Queen’s Park, said: “These are strange times we inhabit at the moment without our friend Elijah and our parish minister.
“It’s so hard. We don’t know what’s happening and when or if he will return. Quite literally, we are in a time of wilderness.”
Dr Smith, a passionater artist and musician, has been given the option to appeal the decision.
He directed requests for comment to the Church of Scotland.

It’s not the first time a priest has been suspended over scandalous antics.
We told earlier how a kirk minister was suspended for cheating on his wife with a married musician.
Reverend Ian Bradley, 68, had “inappropriate intimate sexual relations” with the woman, including a weekend tryst at a cottage in Argyll.
The retired uni professor, of St Andrews, was suspended for a year by Church of Scotland chiefs.
His mistress later called for him to receive a lifetime pulpit ban.
