The F1 family woke on Thursday 14th March to the news that Charlie Whiting had died suddenly.
Charlie Whiting held the position of F1 Race Director, and was much loved by teams and drivers alike. He had this rare gift of being firm but fair to all those he dealt with in the Piranha Club, and was also a likeable and approachable figure within the Paddock.
