At number 3, Shaker Heights-raised rapper, Machine Gun Kelly brings in 6,378,140 monthly listeners on Spotify. MGK is known for his 2011 hit ‘Wild Boy’ featuring Atlanta native Waka Flocka Flame. Other artists who jumped at the chance to get on this song include Philly based rapper Meek Mill, French Montana, 2 Chainz, and Yo Gotti. After meeting with Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, he was immediately signed to Bad Boy and Interscope records and landed A SXSW performance months after.


Rapping isn’t the only thing he’s in to. MGK also has made appearances on popular movies such as Nerve (2016), Bright (2017), Beyond the Lights (2014) and Netflix’s highly ranked. 2018 film, Bird Box. Currently, he peaked at #4 on Billboard for his record Bad Things featuring Camila Cabello.

Shaker Heights born rapper KiD CuDi takes the spot as the second most monthly streamed artist from Ohio. He averages 6,568,133 listeners per month and is constantly featured on songs whether it is rapping or producing. His career took off after high school when he moved to Brooklyn, New York with a demo and $500 to his name. Following this, this is where he met Kanye West in BAPE store that he worked in.


Around 2005, CuDi The G.O.O.D. Music signed rapper is most known for his hit smash ‘Day ‘N’ Nite’ resulting from being kicked out by his uncle. Shortly after he was kicked out, his uncle passed away and the single came out.

As for the number one spot, this comes in easy by a landslide. 19-year-old, Canton-born rapper Trippie Redd takes the cake with 11,247,6920 monthly listeners on Spotify alone. With 6.3 million followers on Instagram and a completely sold out shows constantly, he is the number one of Ohio and one of the most active currently.


Trippie Redd recently became popular in music in the last 3 years, his music career took off in 2017 when he moved to Atlanta and released ‘A Love Letter To You’. He peaked at Top 100 of the Billboard 200, and was signed to Strainge Entertainment.
