Liverpool fans have not reacted well to surprise starting XI for Burnley clash

Supporters of Liverpool have taken to Twitter in their numbers this evening to bemoan Jurgen Klopp’s team selection for their side’s clash with Burnley.

Burnley vs Liverpool

The Reds have travelled to Turf Moor for a 7.45pm kick-off, with 3 points no doubt viewed as a necessity in their bid to keep pace with Premier League table-toppers Manchester City.

As things stand, Liverpool sit 5 points behind the Citizens in the English top-flight.

Hosts Burnley, meanwhile, sit second from bottom, having picked up just 9 points from their opening 14 league outings of the campaign.

The Clarets fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in their last outing, whereas Liverpool picked up 3 points courtesy of a dramatic last-minute Divock Origi winner in the Merseyside derby versus Everton.

And Origi has subsequently been rewarded for his heroics over the weekend with a place in Liverpool’s starting lineup for tonight.

The Belgian, though, is far from the only surprise inclusion in Jurgen Klopp’s XI, with all of Joel Matip, Alberto Moreno and Danny Sturridge also set to start:

‘Now show the actual team’

As such, the inclusion of the aforementioned stars, along with the likes of Jordan Henderson and James Milner, mean that there is no place for any of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino for the visitors.

And Liverpool’s fans have certainly not taken too well to the news of their side’s lineup at Turf Moor, with some of the best reaction from across Twitter highlighted below:
