When Emery took over from Arsene Wenger, it was understood that he wanted to plan his team around Ramsey.

The midfielder wanted to play as a roaming number eight, but this did not go down well with the new boss.

Emery does not use this formation and Ramsey has been forced to play in a deeper role this season.

As a result, the Wales international was told by the boss that he did not feature in his plans at the Emirates.

Ramsey has played 252 top-flight matches for Arsenal since he joined from Cardiff City in 2008, scoring 38 times.

But the Gunners withdrew their offer of a contract extension last year and he will leave on a free transfer this summer.

His switch to Juventus could be announced as early as next week when he signs the pre-contract agreement.

Emery has praised Ramsey for not letting the transfer speculation have an impact on his performance and attitude.

Five players who could replace Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal

ARSENAL know they have to sign a replacement for midfield stalwart Aaron Ramsey with the player believed to be joining Juventus on a free transfer.

The Gunners have decided against offering the Welsh international a new deal at the Emirates as his 11-year love affair with the club is set to come to an end.

Massimiliano Allegri has acted fast to bring the 28-year-old to Turin, with Ramsey poised to become their second-highest earner.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash against the Hammers, he said: “I say to him everyday that we need his performance with us.

“And I was very happy with him in the last match. He asked in Blackpool to play, he said, ‘Coach, I want to play’.

“His future is for him, his family and his agent. But every day in training he is working very well.

“I want his focus to be on us, and to be on West Ham on Saturday. I respect his decision a lot.”
