Monday Morning Tunes

It’s snowing in my city. In February, again. Up until a few years ago, this was a rarity. I guess it is becoming a norm with our climate changing. According to Trump, it is not global warming. Maybe if he tweets a belief or an alternative fact long enough, it will come true…or maybe it can serve as a foundation for a future defense? I know, it is a stretch…maybe. Not sure how it will all come down in the aftermath of his presidency, but it will be entertaining, to say the least.

Now back to the snow report, I am not fond of this February snow but it is pretty. It’s already a nuissance with skytrain delays this early Monday morning. It will be worse tomorrow- expecting another 10-15cm tonight. So let’s try to start this week right with a little help from Calvin Harris to Jackson 5 and a few more in between, shall we?

1. Calvin Harris ft. Jessie Reyez- Hard To Love. Album: Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1 (2017).

This doesn’t sound like the usual Harris electronic and energetic song. It is a bit more calming with Reyez’s style and voice. It is a goodie.

2. Niall Horan- Slow Hands. Album: Flicker (2017).

Next up is a bit more of a clean, medium beat song by Horan. It is good pop song. Albeit a puppy love long, it is super catchy. I was hooked on the first listen.

3. Sneaker Pimps- 6 Underground. Album: Becoming X (1996).

This is a classic 90s song. It reminds me of a TLC, Garbage, and Stone Temple Pilots mashed into one. I cannot articulate how. It just does.

4. Kanye West ft Adam Levine- Heard’Em Say. Album: Late Registration (2005).

Something a bit lighter and upbeat. This is probably one of my favourite songs by West. The simple piano key beats and Levine singing the chorus is catchy.

The album is amazing too. There are some big featutes- Brandy, JayZ, Foxx, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, The Game, and of course Levine. I mean c’mon, just brilliant.

5. Jackson 5- I Want You Back. Album: Diana Ross Presents Jackson 5 (1969).

Need some uplifting pop/soul/r&b? Say no more, Jackson 5 it is!

6. Kevin Ridolf ft Lil Wayne- Let It Rock. Album: In This City (2008).

This song is a bit of rap rock, hip hop, electronic, and alternative goodness. It works.

7. Oasis – Wonderwall. Album: What’s The Story Morning Glory (1995).

It’s Oasis. My favourite album from them. Got it on vinyl too 🤘.

8. Theory Of A Deadman- Santa Monica. Album: Gasoline (2005).

An oldie but goodie from TOAD.

9. Seawolf – Whirlpool. Album: Old World Romance (2012).

This is from my favorite album from Seawolf. Go check it out.
