Biggest Fortnite Season 7 Map Changes and Comparisons
Like all new seasons of Fortnite, Season 7 brought a number of map changes and updates both big and small. Snow now covers the southwestern portion of the map and many named locations have drastically changed.
This page looks at changes made to the map in Season 7 along with comparison images from Season 6.
Here’s a look at the map at the start of Season 7:
The largest and most obvious change is the giant chunk of land now covered in snow. Gone are Flush Factory and Greasy Grove and in are Polar Peak, Frosty Flights, and Happy Hamlet.
The entire southwestern portion of the map, lining up with the river and going all the way north to Tilted Towers, is now covered in ice and snow. Not only that, but the snowstorm seen in the distance during Season 6 has brought a new landmass, extending the map past Flush Factory.
And here’s what the area looked like in Season 6. Look at all that water!
EditGone But Not Forgotten
Two named locations took a hit with this icy update. The first is poor Greasy Grove which got flooded and frozen over. Not much remains, save for some of the roofs of taller buildings and objects like cars and streetlights stuck at the top of the ice. Take note, standing on this ice will cause you to slip around!
And here’s Greasy Grove in its former glory.
Flush Factory also didn’t make it out alive. Not only is the entire factory covered in ice, the top part of the tallest building actually moved east and closer to the side of the mountain.
This is Flush Factory before its burial in Season 7.
EditNew Points of Interest
While there are a ton of smaller areas and newer points of interest to check out in the winter area, three new named locations take the spotlight. The first is Polar Peak, the highest point in the snowy biome. It’s mostly a flat incline with smaller castle like structures here and there, including one at the very top of the peak.
The second area is Frosty Flights, a landing strip for the new planes. Two hangars can be explored along with a larger facility filled with offices and a control center. There’s a tower and plenty of ziplines.
Finally there’s Happy Hamlet, an adorable little winter town with over a dozen of buildings to explore. Seriously, there’s a lot to check out here as each building is mostly unique and features multiple levels.
Several hills in the desert biome now have new assortments of junk on top of them. Here’s a look at the hill near the oasis.
EditZipline and Plane Outposts
Not only do ziplines appear all across the map, new plane outposts are scattered about as well. Head for the little red building and you might find a plane. If not, most outposts are surrounded by zip lines to help get you around faster.
EditSo Long, Corrupted Zones
The main attraction of Season 6 is gone and in its place is… nothing? All the corrupted zones have been greatly altered with Shadow Stones removed, the purple boosts taken out, the corrupted trees and rocks missing, and new layer of grass.
Here’s a look at a corrupted zone from Season 6 for reference.
The haunted castle added in Season 6 has undergone some changes. Well, it got hit with time. The towers have crumbled and the main area is in ruin.
A look at the original castle from Season 6.
The fort made of wood in the northeastern corner of the map has finally seen a change since it was first introduced over a year ago. Instead of wood, the fort is made of bricks and features a new formation.
Here’s the original version.
EditTilted Towers Building
This poor, poor building. First it was destroyed by a meteor, then it was crushed by the giant cube after being rebuilt, and now its being rebuilt a second time. How long does this building have before chaos strikes again?
East of Wailing Woods is a metal turtle. The giant structure is hanging out on the edge of the map, hard to miss it!
EditRisky Reels Homes
The two houses east of Risky Reels have now turned into a a mini airstrip.
The two houses west of Risky Reels and near the river are now abandoned and dilapidated.
EditDurr Burger on the Go
Retail Row is now home to a small Durr Burger outdoor restaurant. Look for it near the water tower.
There’s a new piano on the edge of the map just east of Lonely Lodge. Perhaps another piano challenge is coming?
The rock formation between Wailing Woods and Tomato Temple now feature a larger stone resembling some kind of figure.
