Today we look at who’s in form, and who’s out of form…
Virgil Van Dijk
A menace and a rock at the back for Liverpool, Van Dijk is already proving to be worth more than £75 million. With Liverpool only shipping 6 league goals this season, Virgil (and any other Liverpool defender as a matter of fact) gets plenty of points for clean sheets, and has even been chipping in with assists recently (that miscued volley against Everton was sublime). Not only that, but the staggering number of tackles and headers won per game racked up together means that he is not a stranger to topping the BPS (bonus points system).
Who can he replace?
Joe Gomez has recently suffered a fractured leg and will be out for some time, Cesar Azpilicueta isn’t performing well, and if you have a bit of extra money to spend, take out Shane Duffy, who has a three match ban.
By no means the youngest keeper in the league, but at £4.5 million, he is an absolute steal! Having recently saved a penalty against Cardiff, he is on top form, and has rather favourable games coming up, where he will be expected to keep a clean sheet.
Who can he replace?
David De Gea has had a few nightmare performances this season, and Kepa Arrizabalaga (I think that’s how its spelt) hasn’t kept too many clean sheets recently.
What a season Wilson is having he has scored 9 goals, assisted a couple more, and been called up for England. At this rate he could be in the running for the golden boot. At £6.7 million he is still reasonably cheap, and will reassure you shed loads of goals.
A slightly cheaper, but by no means worse player than Wilson, Jimenez is becoming Wolves’ main man. So much so that playing Wolves home and away is a fixture to be feared. Wolves have reasonably favoured fixtures coming up, but their record against the top six is brilliant anyway, so you’d expect them to perform well in all their upcoming fixtures.
Who can Wilson and Jimenez replace?
Marko Arnautovic and Glenn Murray were both injured during the midweek fixtures, so they could possibly be transferred out. Lukaku is playing abysmally (or just not playing at all), so if you haven’t already taken him out, you should do now.
Prepare for the start of the cup, FPL fans.
