Leeds United’s unbeaten run in pre-season continued as Marcelo Bielsa’s side came back from 1-0 down to beat Guiseley 2-1 at Nethermoor Park.
The Whites head coach opted for a different side from the one that featured just 24 hours earlier at York City, handing debuts to summer signings Helder Costa and Ben White.
It was Leeds who started the quicker of the two sides earning an early free-kick after a foul on Ezgjan Alioski, captain for the evening Kalvin Phillips, delivered the set-piece and White could only send a volley wide.
It was Guiseley who struck first, however, a long ball over the top was latched on too by forward Kaine Felix and he raced through and slotted through the legs of Bailey Peacock-Farrell to open the scoring.
Another big chance for the hosts followed, Felix showed great strength to hold off the Leeds defence, before crossing for Aaron Martin who could only head wide.
Costa then showed some neat skills before being felled around 20 yards from goal, Phillips took the free-kick which struck home.
Another chance for Guiseley from a long throw and Martin fired just wide of the target, before Martin saw an header looped wide of target.
Mateusz Bogusz then took aim and saw his effort blocked for a corner which Guiseley managed to clear, the last chance before the break fell to the visitors, White played in Costa who managed to weave his way into the area but he can’t get a shot away.
Half Time | Guiseley 1-0 Leeds United
The first chance of the second half fell to the Whites, Mateusz Klich teed up Alioski, but the Macedonian’s effort goes over the bar, before Bogusz fired well over from 25 yards.
Leeds then saw a goal disallowed for offside, Alioski won a free-kick which Phillips took and the Macedonian international headed home but the flag was up for offside.
Guiseley’s first chance of the second half came on 59 minutes, Felix got the better of Leif Davis, who looked as though he was felled, but play was allowed to continue and Kamil Miazek produced a good stop to deny Felix of his second.
Jack Clarke showed some good work before being felled 25 yards from goal, Klich struck the resultant set-piece and his effort flashed just wide, four minutes later though and Leeds were level.
Great piece of individual skill from Costa allowed him to work his way into the area before firing across goal and into the back of the net to draw Leeds level proceedings.
With fifteen minutes remaining at Nethermoor Park, the hosts went close to taking the lead for a second time, the ball fell to Scott Garner who saw his effort well saved by Miazek.
With ten minutes to go Leeds took the lead, Klich lifted the ball over the top to Costa whose first time volley found Bogusz, who found the net with a neat finish to cap off a superb move.
Guiseley tried to get an equaliser late on when substitute Kennedy Digie saw his long range effort flash wide of the target.
