The Trail Animals Running Club’s ninth annual TARC Spring Classic 50K, marathon, half marathon and 10K took place on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Weston, Mass.
Oh dear. I seem to be terribly behind on my blog posts. I must have been far too busy training to have time to write about training. Anyway, I’ll pick up where I left off, which is somewhere in the Eastbourne Travelodge after being pelted with hailstones and eating vegan kebabs in Brighton. The first […]
Monday, 15th April I was up after the 6.30 alarm and quite surprised at how well I’d pulled up from Sunday’s effort. I met with Dion for a steady comfortable recovery run, as we discussed our respective fortunes from the weekend. Dion registered a 1:10 at the Canberra half marathon, which he was disappointed with. […]
I ran another marathon (yay me). Though you probably already know that since I only seem to pop up when I have these post race feels to offload on you all. It’s a strange place being entwined within the days that follow an event you have been working towards. It’s almost as though you become […]
The sun has well and truly got it’s hat on and is encouraging everyone to come out and play! It’s totally delicious to be able to bask in the sun like a little snake soaking up the rays. It has been another busy week here at Chez Magpie, I don’t want to wish my life […]
For my first marathon I had apparently chosen “the hardest one”. If anyone tells you this, they could be right. It all depends if you like hills. I love hills! Or at least I love walking up hills! With 619ft of elevation, I did my fair share of walking 😂 As I stepped into the […]
Last weekend Thames Valley Harrier athletes were out competing at the Southern Athletics league and on the roads. Phil Wetton and Amber Simukonda report:

Francis Benali has already completed two incredible challenges for charity. His third may be his toughest yet…
So I am now five days AFTER the marathon, rather than four days before. Similar to my last post, I thought I would put the quick and obvious FAQs at the BOTTOM of this post, feel free to skip to those. I will draw out some wider reflections in the middle as well as the […]
Spring has most definitely sprung, the training is all done and there’s no more time for mucking about. It’s time to poop or get off the potty!! First up to stick it in the owl were the runners at the Eastleigh 10k, always a fast race on the Southern road running fixture list. Bournemouth AC sent down a trio […]
So, this was my first marathon, and I was pretty proud that I ran 100% of my training plan. I did substitute a few of the intervals sessions for different ones, but I always hit the mileage, week after week. So, after a pretty successful final 20 mile long run, and a nice taper, I felt ready to do this. Everyone said, I’d done all the hard work, now was just to go out and do what I trained to do. Run 26.2 miles.
With a marathon a year for 3 years, followed by a 2 year break – 2019 was the year of my return to marathon distance. I’d picked Manchester for a couple of reasons – well, one really the second reason was a bonus! It was dubbed a PB marathon course (and I could do it […]
Living like a local in Nudgee Beach, Brisbane with a gorgeous Weimaraner called Sprocket.
The Athletics Team of Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club started on Saturday in Norman Park, Bromley, with an outstanding win for their summer program in the Southern Athletics League to bring their goal for the climb to record breaking, writes Tom Pollak. Star of the team was the all-rounder Mark Andrews, who participated in eleven events. […]
