THE X Factor 2019 is returning to ITV this year, however, the 16th series will be very different from anything that has come before it. In fact, there will be a huge change in format to Simon Cowell’s long-running singing contest. Here is everything you need to know. The X Factor will return later this year When does The X Factor 2019 start? The ITV talent contest has had a new series every year since its initiation in 2004, which Steve Brookstein won. Most years the programme begins in early September and concludes during the first week of December. However, the 16th year of The X Factor is like no other and could start earlier or later, depending on the judging process. Neither ITV or Simon Cowell, who created the show, have announced an exact premiere date for the revamped series. Neil Rogers is being tipped to join the X Factor judging panel What changes are there in The X Factor 2019? Much like Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor is having a huge overhaul, following years of plummeting ratings. Simon revealed to The Sun’s Bizarre Column there would be two series of the ITV competition this year – one starring celebrities and the other an “all star” line-up of former contestants. He said: “I want to clear up any myths — because I’ve got some exciting news. “I’ve had a meeting with ITV, I’ve told them what I think we’d like to do with X Factor because we’ve been waiting to have this opportunity.” The father-of-one added: “I think it’s going to be huge, it’s the best I’ve felt about this show in years.” Who will be judging and hosting The X Factor 2019? Although the official line-up is yet to be revealed, the bookies have been taking bets on which celebs could be cast for this year’s judging panel. After Robbie Williams and Ayda Field, who sat on the judging panel in series 15, quit the bookmakers drew up a list of potential candidates. Louise Redknapp, Sharon Osbourne, Nile Rodgers and a member of the Spice Girls are all favourites to take a seat on the judging panel. Louise Redknapp, who recently relaunched her music career, is one of the stars on the bookies list A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Nile Rodgers found himself covering for Robbie in the past and could be given a permanent deal, and having a Spice Girl on the show will always be a coup in terms of their wealth of pop music experience and, of course, bringing the drama.” For the full list of the bookies early predictions, including Kanye West and Strictly’s Darcey Bussell, see here. In terms of host(s), Dermot O’Leary regularly fronts the ITV contest but given the change in format it is possible his role could go to someone else. [article-rail-section title=”get you tv&showbiz fix here!” posts_category=”6″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”recent” /] Who won The X Factor 2018? Dalton Harris, a Jamaican born singer, beat Scarlett Lee and Anthony Russell to be crowned the winner of The X Factor 2018. So stunned was he to win the talent contest the musician could only say: “I’ve won The X Factor,” when he was announced as the champion.
