The Premier League should be doing more to help out English teams in the Champions League, Danny Rose has said ahead of Tottenham’s semi-final first leg clash with Ajax. Spurs host the Dutch outfit next Tuesday, just three days after facing off against West Ham in a Premier League London derby. Tottenham knocked Manchester City out in the quarter-finals to reach this stage of the competition Their semi-final opponents, on the other hand, have already played their last game before travelling to north London – a 4-2 defeat of Vitesse – with the Eredivisie moving a number of Ajax’s fixtures to help them out with their European adventure. Liverpool’s last-four opponents Barcelona have not been gifted the same aid by LaLiga – they have league matches scheduled for both Saturdays before their semi-final fixtures – with the Reds actually having the advantage as they play this Friday before travelling to Spain for next Wednesday’s first leg. This gives them an extra day’s rest compared to the Camp Nou club. [article-rail-section title=”LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS” posts_category=”221″ posts_number=”12″ query_type=”recent” /] But this scheduling is still not enough, Rose insists, and the Tottenham defender wants the Premier League to do more to aid the teams representing them in Europe. “It would be nice,” Rose said. “I couldn’t believe it when I heard that’s what the Dutch were doing. “Of course when you get to this stage of the season, a little bit of fatigue can start to kick in and every little helps. “It would be nice if the people in England took a similar stance and helped us out because ultimately it’s not Tottenham against Ajax. Roy Keane pulled no punches in his assessment of Manchester United following their derby defeat to Manchester City. The Red Devils were outclassed by their local rivals 2-0 at Old Trafford, with City moving back top of the Premier League thanks to second-half strikes from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane. Fred has struggled to adapt to life at Old Trafford It was United’s seventh defeat in nine matches and, prior to the match, Keane had already launched a scathing attack on midfielder Paul Pogba, labelling him a ‘big problem’ for the club. He said: “The guy is a talented boy, but we’re saying the same things over and over again. “The number of times I’ve seen him in games where he’s not sprinting back or running back. He’s talking about body language, throwing his arms up in the air, he’s a big problem for United. “I don’t know what he’s like around the training ground or when they travel, but he mentioned body language and pride, I don’t see it, I don’t see it in his performances. And my eyes don’t lie to me. “I’m not disagreeing he’s a talented player, but you need more than just talent. Keane labelled Fred a ‘cheat’ for his tame defending against Sterling in the match “We talk about the real top players, the great players, they make their team better and they make their teammates better. He doesn’t do that. He plays for himself.” Following the match, Keane went in even harder on his former club. The ex-midfielder lamented the performance of Fred, the Brazil midfielder, especially highlighting the role he played in City’s second goal. The Brazilian allowed Raheem Sterling to breeze past him, before laying the ball off to Sane to smash home. [article-rail-section title=”LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS” posts_category=”221″ posts_number=”12″ query_type=”recent” /] Fred moved to Old Trafford in the summer for £50million but has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League. Keane said: “That’s cheating, what he’s (Fred) done is cheating, letting the guy run off him.” But his colleague Gary Neville intervened, saying: “Watching Fred all season, he commits to challenges, he gets skipped past and he can’t get back, he can’t recover, he’s not got the legs. I think that’s what he is. “There’s nothing I’ve seen from United that makes me think they could’ve given more. They could’ve not made mistakes, but that’s the best they’ve got I think.” [boxout headline=”LIVE ON talkSPORT” intro=”talkSPORT is your home of live football! Fred sells himself short here. He gives the ball away, which can happen, then compounds it. “You do not let (Raheem) Sterling then get goal side of you. Why aren’t people trying to stop the shot? “If that’s a player giving it their all, then Manchester United are in even more trouble than I think, and I think they’re in huge trouble.” Sterling breezed past Fred for the second City goal Meanwhile, the PFA Team of the Year was announced on Thursday morning and many were surprised by Paul Pogba’s inclusion. The Frenchman has struggled for form for large parts of the season, apart from a period of superb displays following the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United’s caretaker manager. However, his recent performances have again dipped as United continue to struggle. Other supporters have also been left shocked by the fact that Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been left out the season’s so-called best XI. Pep Guardiola admitted his delight as Manchester City guaranteed title success is in their own hands with Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat of local rivals Manchester United. City moved back top of the Premier League table with their victory, one point ahead of Liverpool with three games left to play. Guardiola has won each of his three visits to Old Trafford as Manchester City manager Neither of the title-chasing teams has a particularly tough run-in, and Guardiola doubts the Reds are going to drop many points over the final weeks of the season. “Liverpool I don’t think are going to drop too many points, but it’s in our hands,” Guardiola said after Wednesday’s match, “Three games, we won the last 11. It’s incredible what these players have done so far, but still we have a job to do. “If that victory happened in November, December or January we would celebrate it more, enjoy it more.
