One of the biggest shocks of this year’s Golden Globe nominations was that Sam Elliott didn’t receive a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in “A Star is Born.” Elliott isn’t out of contention, though, for the Oscar. There is actually quite an impressive list of actors who got left out at the Globes but went on to take the Academy Award anyway. In fact, as recently as 2006, Alan Arkin won the Oscar for “Little Miss Sunshine” while being left out by Globe nominators. Elliott has been a huge topic of discussion in Gold Derby’s forums (as have most things related to “A Star is Born.”) While some people have complained that the performance is too short for an actual victory, other forum posters have celebrated the fact that a performance with limited screen time is in Oscar contention as opposed to the lead performances which so often lately have been accused of category fraud by submitting in the supporting categories. FROM THE FATHER's HEART

Daniel 11:30-45) As recorded in the King James Version. Three ideas are contained in this verse. 💥There is the thought of knowing God. 💥Being strong 💥and doing exploits.   👉🏾God’’s people are characterised by what they know, what they are and what they do.   Believers (Christians) are different from worldly and unconverted people in […]

I know sometimes our little ones make it VERY clear that we need to stop whatever we are doing and listen to them. Sometimes it’s super sweet and they just want you to stop and cuddle them. Do you ever feel like there are times when God is CLEARLY saying stop and listen to me? […]

The Introverted Christian

Due to introversion (like it’s an affliction, yeah right🙄) there are things we never get tired of immersing in our lives. It could be various reasons why we like that “thing”: sentimental reasons, lovely sense memories, the sound of the crescendo, whatever it is, we keep it around and never tire of it, hence, why […]

Handful of Tales

Part one – François Santayana François Santayana did not believe in fairy tales, although he wished he did. It was the fault of his mother of course; after reading him any such tale she would proceed to dismantle it in the methodical fashion she so lavishly applied to everything in her life. She would tell […]

The Liturgical Queer

Language seems to be a dominant conversation in LGBT+ Christian discourse, or at least in conservative subculture. I have some brief thoughts on the phrase “struggle with same-sex attraction”.  I respect an individual’s choice of language when it comes to sexuality descriptors.  I do, however, have concerns when a non-straight person doesn’t use LGBT+ self-identifiers; […]

Thank you so much church for having me. I am truly excited to be with the bride of Christ this morning and do not know how anyone say that they love Jesus but don’t love his bride, the church. If we love Jesus, we must also love his bride. Because the church is God’s plan […]

When God gave his everlasting covenant of land to Abraham, as first described in Genesis 15:18 and later reaffirmed to Isaac and still later to Jacob, it amounted to the only land grant that ever came from God Himself. But the promise extended beyond mere land: the land was to be filled with the […]

From The Darkness Into The Light

Revelation 2 To the Church in Ephesus 2 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked […]
