ALL-SCHOLASTICS GIRLS TRACK NICOLE ANDERSON, BILLERICA The honors were endless for Anderson in 2019. She was the Merrimack Valley Conference champion in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 58.2 seconds. The junior also was the 800-meter champion in the Division 2 competition (2:14), and in the same event at New Englands, placing first at 2:12.8. At nationals, she placed fourth in a loaded field with a time of 2:07.1. Anderson is a member of the National Honor Society, and a SUMMA award recipient. TIANA BAZIE, DENNIS-YARMOUTH Bazie set school records in the shot put (41-9 ¾) and discus (135-5) and won the Atlantic Coast League meet in the same two events. In the Division 3 East meet, Bazie placed first in the discus and second in the shot put. She capped her high school career in similar fashion at All-States by winning the discus (130-4) and placing second in the shot put event again. Bazie will compete in track at Louisville and plans to study exercise science. MACKENZIE CONDON, MARTHA’S VINEYARD The senior showed her versatility by winning the All-State pentathlon title with a score of 3,201. She also took a second in the 400-meter high hurdles, finishing in a time of 1:02.57. Condon also won the Division 4 state title in the pentathlon (3,095). The student body president, Condon has committed to Harvard in the fall. GRACE CONNOLLY, NATICK By this point, most of New England, if not the nation, knows about Connolly’s ability on the track, and 2019 was yet another outstanding year for the Natick senior. She finished as the champion in the 2-mile at both the Division 1 East meet as well as All-States. A three-time Gatorade Runner of the Year, and a two-time cross country All-American at FootLocker Nationals, Connolly shattered Shalane Flanagan’s record in the 2-mile at the Coaches Invitational. A four-time Bay State Conference MVP and National Honor Society member, Connolly will run track at Stanford. KATHARINE DUREN, CENTRAL CATHOLIC The sophomore was champion in the 100-meter hurdles at the Merrimack Valley Conference championship and also at the Division 2 East championships. She became the first female athlete from Central Catholic to finish as a champion in the same event at All-States and New Englands. In her spare time, Duren runs for the Haverhill Elite Track Club and hopes to eventually race at the collegiate level. SARAH FIRTH, BELMONT As a sophomore, Firth finished as an All-State champion in the pole vault (11-6), and followed that up by emerging as a champion at the New Englands (11-9) to finish as the top-ranked performer in Massachusetts for that event. She also showed great ability in the 100-meter hurdles, being named a Middlesex League All-Star after starring in that competition throughout the season. CAMMY GARABIAN, SEEKONK The senior standout finished as a champion at New Englands, as well as the All-State and Division 4 East meets in both the shot put and discus events. Ranked eighth nationally for the shot put, she set a personal high and school record with a distance of 47-0. Garabian also set a program record for the discus (135-0), and will be attending Harvard this fall. MEG HUGHES, OLD ROCHESTER Hughes was the All-State champion in the 400 hurdles (1:01.7). The junior also placed fifth in the 400-meter dash (58.6 seconds). A tri-season athlete, Hughes is also known for her ability as a soccer star, as she was named the South Coast Conference Player of the Year. She also was a South Coast Conference All-Star for basketball. INDIA INGEMI, BEVERLY Ingemi was a champion in the 400-meter dash at All-States and the Division 2 East meet. Ingemi also finished first in the same event in the Northeastern Conference championship, while placing first in the 100-meter dash and the long jump. For her efforts, she was named the NEC Runner of the Year. A two-time Scholar Athlete for the Class of 2020 with countless Academic Excellence Awards and a 4.7 GPA, Ingemi hasn’t hopes to continue running in college. LUCY JENKS, NEWTON SOUTH Jenks finished first in the mile at the Division 1 East and All-State meets. At the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle, the junior flew past the competition, clocking in with a time of 4:47.75. During her indoor track career, Jenks was named an All-American, after posting a time of 4:45.95 in the mile. Academically, Jenks finished with straight A’s this year, making the high honor roll. JADA JOHNSON, SHARON The two-time Hockomock League MVP was a quadruple threat for the Eagles this past year, performing in the pentathlon, the hurdle events, high jump and long jump, finishing a league champion in the latter three. At All-States, Johnson took home first in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 19-3½. The junior also placed third at nationals for the pentathlon, and was named an All-American. She is aiming to continue her track and field career in college. ANNA JORDAHL-HENRY, WELLESLEY In her final season at Wellesley, Jordahl-Henry became the All-State meet record holder in the 200-meter dash, posting an impressive time of 24.31 seconds. She finished undefeated during the regular season in each event she participated in, and was named Bay State Conference MVP. At both the All-State and Division 1 East meets, the senior placed first in the high jump with a height of 5-8 each time. Jordahl-Henry closes her career after finishing as a BSC All-Star every season since her freshman year, with 13 combined school records between indoor and outdoor track. BROOKLYN MANNA, WOBURN Manna was a 2019 New England champion for both the triple jump and long jump. She also finished as champion at the Middlesex League meet in the same two events, as well as the 100-meter hurdles. Manna broke her school records in the triple jump (39-4) and the long jump (19-9¾). A member of the National Honor Society, Manna also has taken home an Academic Award in English. HANNAH McENTEE, TAUNTON Over the course of her sophomore season, McEntee was a star in the javelin competition, finishing first at the MSTCA State Coaches Invitational, the Hockomock League meet, and at the Division 1 East championship. During All-States, she was runner-up with a distance of 121-2. She also qualified for the New Balance Outdoor Championships. McEntee is an honors student, and has a strong interest in criminal justice, as she even had the chance to attend the FBI Youth Academy. MAKAYLA PAIGE, TEWKSBURY As a sophomore, Paige took things to another level for Tewksbury, finishing as All-State champion in the 800-meter run. She would post a personal best time of 2:06.27, which was the fastest mark in Massachusetts this year. Paige set Merrimack Valley Conference Division 2 records in the 800 and 400 hurdles in 2019. STEPHANIE SIMON, CHELSEA The Commonwealth Athletic Conference MVP in field events, the junior established herself on the state and national stage. Simon was the All-State champion in the triple jump (38-7 1/4) and took a fourth in the long jump. She went on to win the national long jump emerging elite event (19-3 1/4) at the New Balance Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. LOWELL, 4×100 relay The team of Rebecca Cady, Kimesha Lewis, Jordan Lamarre and Celeste Mensah placed first at All-States with a time of 48.54 seconds, as well as the Division 1 East (48.87) and Merrimack Valley Conference championships (48.92). Two members from the relay team will be moving on from the program however. Lamarre is set to attend UMass, whereas Kimesha Lewis is bound for American International. NATICK, 4×400 relay The quartet of Nicole Frail, Bailey Elder, Ashley Warren and Kylie Langan took first place at the Division 1 East championships with a time of 3:59.57. They also finished second at All-States (3:58.55) and third at New Englands (3:56.3). With a team filled with underclassmen, they figure to be a major player on the track next year. BOSTON LATIN, 4×800 relay The foursome of Lucy Abdow, Sophie Ahearn, Annie Jackson and Julie Tassinari combined to place first at All-States (9:23.66), then followed that up with a second-place finish in at New Englands. They also finished as champions at the New Balance Nationals Emerging Elite competition. Only one member of the team will be moving on, as Tassinari is set to attend Harvard in the fall. GIRLS LACROSSE ALL-SCHOLASTICS MADISON AHERN, NOTRE DAME The senior midfielder secured the only missing piece to her illustrious resume this season by helping the Cougars claim a Division 1 state title. The University of Notre Dame commit tallied 117 goals and 54 assists this season and holds the program record for career points (631) and goals (435). Ahern is a four-time Under Armour All-American and a 2019 U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American. GRACE ARTHUR, MARBLEHEAD It was another stellar season for the senior midfielder, who displayed balanced offensive production. Arthur was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American for the third time in her career. She also earned Northeastern Conference MVP honors and was an EMGLCA First Team All-Star selection. Arthur finished her career with 186 goals and 213 assists for 399 points. MADDY BALTER, WELLESLEY Despite missing the first six games of the season because of injury, the Northwestern-bound senior midfielder still tallied 51 goals and 16 assists. For her efforts, Balter was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American and EMGLCA First Team All-Star, both for the second time. The Bay State Conference Carey MVP totaled 218 goals and 68 assists for her career and is an honor roll student. MAEVE BARKER, NEEDHAM A two-time captain, the senior attack recorded 61 goals, 30 assists and 119 draw controls this season. She was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American and Academic All-American while also earning EMGLCA First Team All-Star recognition. A member of Needham’s state champion squad from 2017, Barker finished her career with 191 goals and 85 assists. A National Honor Society member, she will play lacrosse next year at Johns Hopkins. JULIA BARRY, DUXBURY The senior midfielder was the catalyst for the Dragons by compiling 71 goals, 50 assists, 80 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers this season. She was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American, EMGLCA First Team All-Star and retained her Patriot League MVP honors. Barry finished her career with 370 points. She is an honor roll student and will play lacrosse next year at Boston College. SOPHIA BRINDISI, LINCOLN-SUDBURY Only a sophomore, the midfielder turned in a stellar season for the Warriors as she recorded 61 goals and 45 assists. For her efforts, Brindisi was named an EMGLCA First Team All-Star and a Dual County League All-Star. She played on the Under Armour All-America Underclass Tournament New England Highlight Team. She is a member of Mentors in Violence Prevention. LILLY CALLAHAN, NEEDHAM The junior, who is verbally committed to the University of Notre Dame, starred between the pipes for the Rockets this season. She made 164 saves, good for a 57 percent save percentage. Callahan was named an EMGLCA First Team All-Star and a U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American. The captain-elect also plays field hockey and is a member of National Honor Society. GIANNA CAMERON, FRANKLIN The junior goalie and University of Oregon commit stood tall in net for the 20-win Panthers once again by making 161 saves and posting a 51 percent save percentage along with a 6.9 goals against average. Cameron was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American, EMGLCA First Team All-Star and a Hockomock League All-Star. She also is a three-year varsity hockey player. ALLIE CONNERTY, NORWELL The sophomore midfielder continued to be a dynamic force for the Clippers this season by accumulating 58 goals and 29 assists. For her efforts, Connerty was named an EMGLCA First Team All-Star. Connerty already has won lacrosse and soccer state titles in her high school career. She hopes to a play a sport in college and is an honor roll student. CAROLINE DAVIS, LINCOLN-SUDBURY The junior midfielder contributed in many facets to the Warriors success, including scoring 46 goals and adding 29 assists and 139 draw controls. She was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American, EMGLCA First Team All-Star and Dual County League All-Star. She also plays soccer and basketball. An honor roll student, Davis is verbally committed to the University of Michigan. SOPHIA DiCENSO, FOXBORO An elite midfielder, DiCenso put the finishing touches on her stellar career with the Warriors this season. A member of the USA U19 lacrosse team, DiCenso tallied 244 goals and 142 assists in her career. A member of National Honor Society, DiCenso will play at the University of Richmond. ALEX FINN, WESTWOOD The Boston College-bound senior attack and captain showcased a superior offensive ability by recording 86 goals and 96 assists this season. Finn was named the Tri-Valley League MVP for the second time along with earning U.S. Lacrosse All-American and EMGLCA First Team All-Star honors. For her career, she totaled 230 goals and 223 assists. An honor roll student, Finn also was an accomplished basketball player. JULIA GREENE, NOTRE DAME The senior midfielder and Stanford University commit’s all-around stellar play was essential to the Cougars’ run to a Division 1 state title. Greene recorded 38 goals, six assists, 41 ground balls, 31 caused turnovers and 50 draw controls this season. Greene is a three-time U.S. Lacrosse All-American and a two-time EMGLCA First Team All-Star. Greene is an honor roll student. MOLLY GREER, COHASSET The junior midfielder was an offensive force for the Division 2 state champion Skippers. She compiled 132 points from 58 goals and a single-season program record 74 assists along with recording 104 ground balls and 98 draw controls. Greer was named an EMGLCA First Team All-Star and a South Shore League All-Star. Greer also plays field hockey and basketball and is a National Honor Society member. JANE HANSEN, COHASSET The Northwestern-bound midfielder’s dynamic play led the way to Cohasset’s second Division 2 state title in three years. Hansen tallied 101 goals and 50 assists as she earned U.S. Lacrosse All-American honors. She also was named an EMGLCA First Team All-Star and the South Shore League Player of the Year. Hansen finished her illustrious career with 304 goals and 168 assists. ANNIE HILSINGER, NORWELL The senior midfielder’s all-around stellar play was essential to the Clippers. She not only totaled 38 goals and 32 assists, but also recorded 31 interceptions and 55 contested ground balls. For her efforts, she was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American, an EMGLCA First Team All-Star and a South Shore League All-Star. A member of National Honor Society, she will study business at Marquette University. FIONA McGOWAN, WESTWOOD The senior midfielder made a significant impact for the 22-win Wolverines. McGowan registered 64 goals, 21 assists and 101 draw controls to be named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American for a second time. She also garnered EMGLCA First Team All-Star honors. McGowan also was a Tri-Valley League All-Star and will continue her lacrosse career next year at UMass. HALEY O’CONNOR, IPSWICH A balanced offensive approach keyed the junior midfielder’s effectiveness as she recorded 51 goals and 52 assists along with 80 draw controls this season. She earned U.S. Lacrosse All-American and EMGLCA First Team All-Star honors. O’Connor also was named a Cape Ann League All-Star. A high honors student, she also captains the volleyball team. O’Connor is committed to play lacrosse at Old Dominion University. ISABELLA POMEROY, MANCHESTER ESSEX The senior goalie turned in a sensational season for the Division 2 state finalist Hornets. She made 236 saves this season for a 66.8 percent save percentage. For her efforts, she was named the Cape Ann League Baker Player of the Year and an EMGLCA First Team All-Star. Also a soccer and basketball player, Pomeroy is a National Honor Society member and will study biomedical engineering at UMass. MAGGIE PONS, NEWBURYPORT The junior attack starred for the Clippers this season by tallying 104 goals and 22 assists. Pons was named the Cape Ann League Kinney Player of the Year and an EMGLCA First Team All-Star. She also earned US Lacrosse Academic All-American honors. A high honor roll student, Pons also plays field hockey and basketball. Pons is committed to Cornell University. SYDNEY SCALES, WALPOLE The Boston College commit and junior midfielder continued to excel by registering 73 goals, 35 assists, 120 ground balls and 155 draw controls for the Division 1 East champion Rebels. Scales was named the Bay State Conference Player of the Year, a U.S. Lacrosse All-American and an EMGLCA First Team All-Star. She also is an accomplished field hockey and basketball player and is a National Honor Society member. LEXI SCHMALZ, NEEDHAM After transferring from BB&N to Needham, the Duke-bound senior midfielder made an immediate impact by netting 102 goals and 40 assists this season. For her efforts, she was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American for the second time. She also earned EMGLCA First Team All-Star and Bay State Conference All-Star honors. Also an All-Scholastic hockey player, Schmalz was the Jewish Cultural Club president. LILY TARDIF, WAYLAND The senior midfielder capped her high school career in style by notching 69 goals, 31 assists and 71 draw controls. She earned U.S. Lacrosse All-American, EMGLCA First Team All-Star, and Dual County League All-Star honors for the third consecutive year. She tallied 338 goals and 88 assists for her career. Tardif, who will play lacrosse next year at Georgetown University, also played field hockey and ran indoor track. AUDRA TOSONE, WALPOLE The UMass-bound senior midfielder was a catalyst for the Division 1 East champion Rebels by recording 69 goals, 38 assists, 130 ground balls and 111 draw controls. She was named a US Lacrosse All-American, EMGLCA First Team All-Star and Bay State Conference All-Star for the second time. An accomplished field hockey and hockey player, Tosone is a high honors student. AVA VASILE, MEDWAY The senior midfielder and captain was sensational this season by registering 77 goals, 24 assists and 171 draw controls. She was named the Tri-Valley League Small MVP and an EMGLCA First Team All-Star for the second time and also earned U.S. Lacrosse All-American honors. A member of National Honor Society, Vasile also is an accomplished soccer player and track runner. She will continue her lacrosse career at the University of Vermont. FALLON VAUGHN, CONCORD-CARLISLE The junior midfielder spearheaded a young Patriots’ squad that made a Division 1 East final appearance. This season, Vaughn was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American, an EMGLCA First Team All-Star and Dual County League All-Star. She earned MVP honors at a US Lacrosse tournament, too. A member of National Honor Society, Vaughn is committed to Yale University. ANNIE WALSH, FRANKLIN The Boston College-bound senior midfielder played an essential role for the 20-win Panthers. She tallied 87 goals and 28 assists along with 112 draw controls this season and finished with 326 career points.
