JACK WHITEHALL is hosting tonight’s Brit Awards in front of some of the biggest names in music – and he is joining them by doing his own song and dance.
The comedian agreed to join Hugh Jackman for his Greatest Showman-themed performance which was the opening number for the Brits 2019.
This will be the second year Jack Whitehall has hosted the Brits
The all-singing, all-dancing spectacular will see Jack dressed up and performing in the final 30 seconds of the astounding routine, broadcast on ITV live from London’s O2 Arena.
But the pair — along with their entire crew — are desperately trying to keep exact details of the production under wraps and have been insisting the room is cleared for their rehearsals over the past few days.
A ceremony insider said: “This is one of the Brits’ biggest ever opening numbers. Hugh and Jack have been rehearsing behind closed doors with the dancers and no one has been allowed to watch the finished product yet. The audience are going to have a part to play in the performance and will all be wearing lit-up wristbands. It’s going to be something very special indeed.”
But the team have been hard pressed to keep details under wraps, as no fewer than 150 dancers will be joining them.
Jack will join Hugh Jackman for the opening performance
When quizzed about it on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show yesterday, Jack refused to give away details but said the opening was “utterly spectacular”.
Last year’s ceremony saw the star take part in an hilarious skit with rapper Big Shaq to kick off the event, although he managed to get away without having to sing or dance.
Instead he was dressed in an enormous jacket and became the star of his very own music video as he made his way to the stage to present the show for the first time.
Jack was great at taming celebrity guests at last year’s bash so being a ringmaster should be no problem this time around.

The singer – one of this year’s most nominated acts – is hosting music agency Coda’s Thames cruise, sponsored by Bulldog Gin.
New song sees Dua dig deep over split
DUA Lipa’s ex Paul Klein wrote a whole album about their split and now she is getting her own back. The singer has penned a fierce track about the LANY frontman following their separation in early 2018. She plans to include it on her second album, which Mark Ronson and Calvin Harris helped to produce.
Dua Lipa has written a new song about her split from Paul Klein
A music insider said: “Dua has been pouring her own experiences into songs for the past year so there is one about her split from Paul.
“New Rules was the biggest hit from her debut so another song about moving on from an ex will fit in with her back catalogue. And teaming up with Mark and Calvin again was something Dua always wanted to do.”
Dua will perform with Calvin at tonight’s Brit Awards, where she is nominated in the Single and Video of the Year categories twice each, for One Kiss and IDGAF.
Her new album, which Swedish star Tove Lo has helped with, is expected to be out later this year. That should give her a few more nominations for next year’s bash.

She has lined up 250 dancers for her set – 100 more than will be joining Calvin Harris live on stage.
Lime’s up for Paloma
PALOMA Faith has always been one to stand out from the crowd – and she really turned heads in this lime-green dress.
Paloma teamed her green dress with a pair of sleek black boots
The singer, who was at a showbiz party on Monday as part of London Fashion Week, teamed her ostrich feather outfit with a pair of killer heels.
Paloma has been out and about a lot in the past week so I hope she still has the energy to go hard at tonight’s Brits.
She’s up for Best British Single for her SIGALA collaboration Lullaby.
But if the star has to rush home after the bash to look after her little one, at least she will have a song ready for bedtime.
O-Bey my party snaps ban
BEYONCE is more than happy to share snaps on her Instagram when she is having a good time – but don’t expect her pals to be doing the same this weekend.
Beyonce and Jay-Z have banned guests from taking photos at their Oscars after-party
The superstar singer and her rapper husband Jay-Z are throwing a swanky Oscars after-party in Los Angeles on Sunday night, and have banned all of their guests from posting about it on social media.
A source close to the couple, who are holding the bash at Hollywood’s iconic Chateau Marmont hotel for a second year running, said: “Bey and Jay have put a series of tough measures in place to ensure none of their guests upload any embarrassing snaps from the party. They want to keep the whole thing top secret, and have ordered celebrity guests to leave their own security teams at home so there is space for everybody else.”
Leonardo DiCaprio, Stevie Wonder and US actress Mindy Kayling attended last year’s party, where guests were ushered in through a secret entrance to avoid being caught on camera.
Beyonce is known for having strict control over snaps of herself, going so far as to ban Press photographers from her tours since 2013 to avoid having an unflattering picture being published.
I suppose a selfie is out of the question then.
[boxout headline=”bizbit”]EXES Jamie and Louise Redknapp will try to avoid each other at the event tonight.
The couple, who divorced in 2017 after 19 years, are both invited to the ceremony although organisers are keen to avoid an awkward run-in.

The girls have been nominated for British Group and Video Of The Year
The girls, nominated for British Group and Video Of The Year at tonight’s Brit Awards, have shot a jokey YouTube video for which they hired “butlers in the buff”.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirwall and Perrie Edwards joined Jesy Nelson at her home in Essex for the Come Dine With Me-inspired clip filmed as a treat for fans. And one of the topless waiters last week was beefcake David Lundy, who you will probably not remember from ITV2’s Survival Of The Fittest.
A source close to the group said: “The girls have got together for a fun bit of content which they’ve filmed for their YouTube channel and socials. It’s loosely based on Come Dine With Me – but has other elements in it, too. It’s for the fans and will come out later this year.”
It’s probably for the best that I wasn’t invited to take part.

Kylie slammed claims she went under the knife
Despite being just 21, the reality star told the new issue of Paper magazine: “People think I went under the knife and completely reconstructed my face, which is false. I’m terrified. I would never. They don’t understand what good make-up and fillers can really do. It’s fillers. I’m not denying that.”
