CORONATION Street’s Carla Connor has had her fair share of bad luck with the recent collapse of her business and being blamed for Rana Habeeb’s death. But things are set to take a much more sinister turn for the Underworld boss. Alison King, who plays Carla, on the ITV set preparing for her character’s dramatic scenes I can reveal Carla, played by Alison King, has to be talked down from the ledge — quite literally — by  Peter Barlow as she yells it is her “time to go”. While suffering a breakdown, Carla thinks she has seen her dead brother Aidan and climbs stairs to the roof of the factory. Clambering higher, Carla starts yelling that she killed Rana and Peter shouldn’t love “evil”, before she is sedated. Line of Duty’s Ted Hastings looks shady AF at the minute (Picture: BBC/ Peter Marley) **Warning, contains spoilers for Line of Duty series 5.** Line of Duty series five has got us frantically trying to work out who mysterious ‘H’ is, and at the moment all fingers are pointing in Superintendent Ted Hastings’ direction. The character, played by Adrian Dunbar, is looking hella guilty at the moment especially with the spelling mistake fiasco that’s been impossible to ignore. But now, evidence from series one has resurfaced and it seems like showrunner Jed Mercurio might have given us a huge clue about his past and possible links to John Corbett (Stephen Graham) way back in 2012, so bare with us as there’s a lot to unpack here. Hastings backstory is being currently under the microscope, with his lengthy career as an officer in Belfast being analysed. You may or may not remember how his force, Royal Ulster Constabulary, colluded in a cover up when him and a friend were purposefully sent to the location of a bomb installed by a paramilitary group, thus sparking his mission against corrupt officers. John Corbett attacked Roisin and we don’t yet know why (Picture: BBC) Way back in the first season, DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) accused Hastings of victimising black officer DCI Tony Gates (Lennie James), leading him to recall all this information: ‘Hang on a second. ‘Don’t you talk to me about victimisation. What are you saying? Let me tell you something, son. ‘Me and my best mate, we went through basic training together, okay? First year out they sent us on this particular job, the two Catholics – are you with me? ‘We go straight over a pipe bomb. I end up in intensive care, him they bury. ‘The log book goes missing, nobody says a word. Don’t you talk to me about victimisation. Nobody’s blacker than me, son.’ These details could also be vital in linking Hastings to the late Corbett, who was born in Belfast. Audiences know that Corbett’s birth name was actually John McGills, however this was changed when he left Ireland for Liverpool in 1989. Has Jed Mercurio been implicating Hastings all this time? (Picture: BBC) We have already learnt that Corbett’s dad, Anthony, died in 1984 and his mum passed away in 1989, both during the Troubles when Hastings was working as a copper. Before Corbett was savagely murdered, he attacked Hastings’ wife Roisin and landed her in hospital. ‘He said you’d know why he’d done it, he said you’d know what you’ve cost him,’ she told her estranged husband. [metro-tag-post-strip] These nuggets lead us to question whether Hastings knows how Corbett’s parents died and whether he was actually involved in their deaths somehow. Why did Corbett attack Roisin? Is there a backstory between Hastings and Corbett that we don’t yet know about or is this all just a massive red herring? Line of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One. Brand new Line of Duty pictures have landed (Picture: BBC) Line Of Duty has dropped fresh series five spoiler pictures ahead of Sundays episode, giving us a glimpse of a brand new character and a potential clue at H’s identity. As well as Motherland’s Anna Maxwell Martin, the BBC drama has welcomed Holby City actor Peter de Jersey to the cast, and although details of his character remain under wraps he’s looking rather serious as he holds classified files in a meeting. Other snaps show main H suspect Superintendent Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) back behind the computer impersonating the mysterious villain, or so he says. Hastings has had all fingers pointed at him for being the bent copper in recent weeks. After episode three, the nation was divided as to who the unknown keyboard warrior was who made a glaring spelling error. Peter de Jersey has joined the cast (Picture: BBC) However, since then Hastings hasn’t done himself any favours as he made the exact same typo writing ‘definately’ instead of ‘definitely.’ Hastings is back behind the computer (Picture: BBC) Yes, it could just be an epic coincidence, but it really isn’t looking great, is it? There’s also a picture of Steve Arnott having a bit of a moment in the bathroom mirror. Steve Arnott has a bit of a moment (Picture: BBC) It seems that Operation Peartree might be getting on top of him, with actor Martin Compson having already teased: ‘There’s stuff wrong with [Arnott] physically and that’s starting to affect him mentally and this will bleed into the current series.’ Elsewhere, there’s pictures of DI Kate Fleming, Sam Railston and Arnott having a debrief in a scrapyard. Sam stands in front of red tape (Picture: BBC) What’s happened now? (Picture: BBC) [metro-tag-post-strip] There’s no word just yet as to what exactly they’re investigating, but the red tape behind Sam would suggest there’s been *another* murder. Just one more episode stands in the way of the grande finale, which has been extended to an incredible action-packed 90-minutes. Will we get any closer to finding out who H is? Here’s hoping. Line Of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
