Leading the Line

It was a case of close but not quite as Scotland were defeated 2-1 by France in their tournament opener in front of a crowd of 1,285 at St. Mirren Park. A freak Sandy Baltimore goal on the hour mark gave the French side the lead but when substitute Emma Craig trundled a shot past […]

The Irish Sun
AN EVIL killer with connections to Dublin is still on the loose over a month after failing to return to prison in Northern Ireland. Thomas McCabe, from Lisburn, was jailed for life in 1990 for beating his then-partner’s 18-year-old cousin to death while he lived in England. Murderer Thomas McCabe remains ‘unlawfully at large’ McCabe has absconded from Maghaberry Prison near Lisburn The PSNI are appealing for information A major appeal to track the 55-year-old was launched by the PSNI on June 7 after the murderer absconded. Today, a police spokesperson confirmed to the Irish Sun that the brute, who has the word ‘love’ tattooed on the fingers of his right hand, remains “unlawfully at large.” Cops believe McCabe has connections in the Dublin, Newry and Newtownabbey and could be in hiding. The fiend spent two years locked up in London after pleading guilty to murder in October 1990. The judge at London’s Central Criminal Court described the offence as a “sudden unpremeditated attack in a moment of drunken and unreasoned jealousy upon a complete stranger.” In 1992 he was transferred to Maghaberry Prison to serve out the rest of his sentence. HISTORY OF ESCAPE The murderer has a history of being posted as unlawfully at large. He first disappeared on September 10 1997 before being returned to prison ten days later. On March 18 1998 he was declared unlawfully at large for over two months before being found the following May 25. In October 2000 he failed to attend an alcohol management programme or to report to work under a pre-release scheme. He was on the loose for 13 days before being returned to prison. On April 15 2002 he again disappeared while undertaking the pre-release scheme after failing to report for work. He was found by police in Newry eight days later in an intoxicated state and brought back to jail. McCabe was re-entered into the pre-release scheme again in September 2003 but was unlawfully at large again three months later when he failed to return home from Chistmas home leave. This time he was on the run for almost two months before being tracked down on February 18 2004 following a manhunt. After completing his sentence he was released on license but it was revoked in January 2018 after a number of breaches. ON THE RUN AGAIN He is now on the run once again and last month PSNI Detective Constable William Arnott released a description of the killer. Making an appeal for information he said: “He is described as around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with short grey coloured hair. “We believe he has connections to Newry, Newtownabbey, and Dublin. [article-rail-section title=”MOST READ IN NEWS” posts_category=”2″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] “I would appeal to anyone who has seen Thomas McCabe, or who knows of his whereabouts to contact us on 101. “I would also appeal directly to him directly to hand himself in.” Anyone with information is being urged to contact their nearest police station or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

We’re now in the Tyler Wright Era of Edmonton Oilers amateur scouting. It’s no exaggeration to suggest that the fate of the team is in large part in his hands. If Wright can consistently identify future Big 12 NHLers, the Oilers will have a huge leg up on their NHL competitors. What is a Big […]

Flexing a muscle for John McTiernan’s creative head scramble When Last Action Hero was released in 1993 it floundered and tanked and was critically lambasted. It didn’t suffer the bloodletting fellow ’90s folly Hudson Hawk suffered. However, it tripped over its own feet and went sprawling in the muck. On paper, the film was a […]
