I find the SHIRT DRESS spring 2019 trend to be extremely important because it shows a clear change in the way designers design dresses. Instead of designers solely focusing on couture gowns, there has now been a shift into focusing on more athleisure type dresses, like shirt dresses. I have always been a fan of […]

(Photo by Kevin Sullivan, Orange County Register/SCNG) FULLERTON — One of the oldest rivalries in the Big West Conference came down to a furious Long Beach State rally and a last-second, game-saving play by Cal State Fullerton’s Austen Awosika. The 49ers trailed by 11 with eight-plus minutes left but kept chipping away at the Titans’ lead, getting within two points with 11 seconds left and having a last-second chance to tie the score. But Awosika, the Titans’ unsung junior guard, cut in front of a pass to DeiShuan Booker in 3-point territory at the buzzer for an 85-82 win at Titan Gym. Awosika stood out on a night in which Kyle Allman Jr. and Khalil Ahmad struggled shooting (8 for 22 combined). Awosika had 17 points with three 3-pointers, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Ahmad scored 19 with five assists, with Allman (11), Jackson Rowe (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Wayne Arnold (10) also hitting double figures. The Titans had 18 assists and a 42-25 edge in rebounds. Mason Riggins and Temidayo Yussuf each scored 17 points as the 49ers hammered the Titans inside for much of the game. Booker finished with 22 points, all of them coming in the second half and 12 coming at the free-throw line. “What a win,” Titans head coach Dedrique Taylor said. “Austen was our guy with great energy and pace all game. We wanted to take away their 3-point shot, and Austen did a great job guarding Booker.” Awosika was backpedaling as the 49ers inbounded the ball with three seconds left, heading toward Booker, who was on the wing setting up to receive a pass from Edon Maxhuni. “I saw him (Maxhuni) look up and I took a chance at the steal,” Awosika said. “We knew they would probably try to get it to Booker.” The Titans led 60-49 when the 49ers started their sprint. Booker had four field goals and four free throws during the run. Maxhuni eventually dribbled the length of the court and curled down the baseline, whipping a pass to Bryan Alberts for a 3-pointer that cut the margin to 83-80 with 22 seconds left. Fullerton made one of two free-throw attempts, then Booker scored underneath to make it 84-82 with 11.8 seconds left. Long Beach used a full-court press and double team to force Ahmad into a traveling violation with 8.1 seconds left, but Riggins took a bunny hop on his ensuing shot for another turnover with 5.4 seconds left. Ahmad hit one of two free-throw attempts to make it a three-point game, leading to the inbounds play and Awosika steal. Long Beach, which has lost six of its last seven, started both Riggins and Yussuf for one of the few times this season, mostly because of Yussuf missing six games with a knee strain. They worked a great high-low post attack that led to nine early inside buckets and 52 points in the paint for the night. What the 49ers (9-17, 3-7 Big West) couldn’t do was hit from the perimeter. They were 3 for 16 from the 3-point line. They actually had three more field goals than the Titans, who were 7 for 19 from the arc and had a 32-23 edge in free throws. The Titans (11-13, 7-3) were able to keep pace and the lead in the first half with their 3-point shooting and transition game, with six 3-pointers in the half, two each by Awosika and Wayne Arnold. Fullerton, which swept the season series from Long Beach for the first time since 2004 and has won four straight over its rival, used a 9-0 run during a four-plus minute span to extend its lead to seven points and went into halftime ahead 34-27. The Titans got a good effort off the bench from Arnold and Josh Pitts (six points, three rebounds) on a night when the officials called 48 fouls and 11 players finished the game with three or more personal fouls. The win moved the Titans into sole possession of second place in the conference, two games behind UC Irvine and a half-game ahead of UC Santa Barbara. Both the Titans and 49ers have road games Saturday, Fullerton at Cal State Northridge and Long Beach at UC Davis. .@CSFCoachTaylor on the bench production from @JoshJP24 and @Zaiahbuckets. #TusksUp pic.twitter.com/GDAbm9UC1O — Titans Men's Basketball (@FullertonMBB) February 14, 2019 .@austen_acee on his offensive production tonight including 3 treys. #TusksUp pic.twitter.com/JA2P0lMmJa — Titans Men's Basketball (@FullertonMBB) February 14, 2019
