Fury’s win over Schwarz closed out a busy month of heavyweight boxing (Picture: Top Rank) After a busy month of heavyweight boxing, Anthony Joshua is no longer champion and Tyson Fury can stake a claim for America’s best-known heavyweight. The question of who is the best heavyweight, however, remains up for debate and here Metro.co.uk ranks the best fighters in the division. 1. Tyson Fury Fury has proven himself to be the most skilled operator (Picture: Top Rank) After making short work of Tom Schwarz on Saturday night, it’s hard to argue Fury isn’t the best in the world right now. Really, he did beat Wilder and in a fairer world he would be the only undefeated fighter left in the heavyweight triumvirate. 2. Deontay Wilder Wilder produced another stunning KO in May (Picture: AP) Although being outboxed by Fury in their first encounter, Wilder has every chance of knocking out the Gypsy King in the rematch. Wilder has established himself as the biggest puncher in the division by some distance and will shoot to the top of the list if he beats Fury in January. 3. Andy Ruiz Jr Ruiz shocked the world against AJ (Picture: Reuters) It would be harsh to rank Ruiz Jr below Joshua, considering his comprehensive win over AJ in New York. Up until the Joshua fight, Ruiz’s record was thin and his knockout power well off the records of the division’s biggest punches. But, he’s the three-belt world champion and so gets third place. 4. Anthony Joshua Joshua’s reputation is in tatters after an upset defeat (Picture: Reuters) Fresh off his first defeat as a pro, Joshua’s reputation has taken a serious hit. It was well known Joshua had vulnerabilities, but the fact Ruiz exposed them so brutally ends Joshua’s aura of invincibility. Much depends on the rematch with Ruiz, which most expect Joshua will be able to win and bid to re-establish himself as the division’s best. 5. Dillian Whyte Whyte is due a title shot (Picture: Getty) When will Whyte get his world title shot? It remains to be seen, but the Bodysnatcher has beaten most of the world’s top contenders. Luis Ortiz might rival the Brit for fifth spot, but outside of the top four, Whyte is on the best winning streak in the division. I’ll admit this KO was an impulse buy. I didn’t know much about it in advance, but, like a mouse, I’m just a sucker for shiny objects. Like any other fan, I’ve always drooled over the Lucky Draw gold chromed out versions of G1s, and so of course I had to get the e-Hobby Gold […]

Many fans and pundits alike expected Tyson Fury to make short work of little-known German Tom Schwarz, and that proved to be the case. It only took two rounds for The Gypsy King to overwhelm Schwarz and for the referee to intervene. Fury controlled Schwarz early on While Fury’s showmanship made many headlines with his Apollo Creed-esque entrance and his personality made even more with his singing after the fight, we can’t forget what a terrific boxer Fury is. At one point in the short-lived fight, Fury dodged an incredible SEVEN punches in a row as Schwarz unloaded all that he had and Fury didn’t even get brushed. Check out the video below: Amazing head movement from Tyson Fury #FuryvSchwarz pic.twitter.com/S1vGMrK49g — James Ogrady (@jamesogrady46) June 16, 2019 All those misses by Tom Shwarz 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Tyson Fury wins by TKO#FurySchwarz pic.twitter.com/jrgSJ2n6VT — Gitau® (@ItsGitaus) June 16, 2019 His boxing IQ is perhaps what sets him apart from the rest of the heavyweight division and his head movement is second to none. It’s quite clear the impressive training videos that are posted with his trainer Ben Davidson really do translate. Fury suggested after the fight he will battle Deontay Wilder for the second time on either September 21 or October 5. He will attempt to prie away the WBC heavyweight title from a man he believes he has beaten before. Of course, their first meeting was mired in controversy after it was declared a draw.

Arum expects record figures from Wilder and Fury (Picture: Top Rank) Bob Arum has predicted Tyson Fury’s rematch with Deontay Wilder will go down as the biggest fight in boxing history. The Top Rank promoter was speaking after Fury’s demolition of Tom Schwarz on Saturday night, having helped put together Manny Pacquiao’s clash with Floyd Mayweather. That fight generated $600million and went down in history as the biggest event in fight history. But Arum is now claiming Fury and Wilder can surpass those figures. ‘I expect both guys get through their next fights, the fight will be the first quarter of next year,’ he said. Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao is boxing’s richest fight (Picture: Getty) ‘I really believe, I’m not blowing smoke – I can’t see why that fight won’t equal or surpass numbers done on the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. ‘That was built up for a lot of years and still they’re not heavyweights.’ When Arum was reminded Mayweather and Pacquiao generated $600m in total, the veteran promoter doubled down on his claim Fury and Wilder can set new a record. Fans are desperate to see Wilder and Fury fight again (Picture: Getty) ‘Why wouldn’t it be? People always look for the big, big heavyweight fights,’ Arum replied when asked if it could really be a $600m fight. ‘(Muhammad) Ali-(Joe) Frazier did more business than any other fight before it. I can’t see why that wouldn’t happen (with this fight). ‘And particularly when it matches somebody from the UK, who is not coming over as an opponent but is an equal with an American, it can do tremendous business on pay-per-view.’ [metro-link url=”https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/16/tyson-fury-praises-tom-schwarz-for-refusing-to-quit-like-anthony-joshua-9970270/” title=”Tyson Fury praises Tom Schwarz for refusing to quit like Anthony Joshua”]
