THIS is the moment a man chases a sex attack suspect and tackles him to the ground after he allegedly assaulted a woman in broad daylight. The suspect, wearing a red baseball hat, was filmed after apparently attacking a woman then punching her in the face. The sex attack suspect was filmed by a have-a-go hero who witnessed one of the attacks in North London earlier this month Police have today released the footage – with fears the incident is linked to a string of attacks that unfolded in North London just streets apart earlier this month. In one of the disturbing attacks, police said a 20-year-old woman had been walking along Philip Lane when a man ran up behind her – sexually assaulting her before swearing at her. The man then punched the victim in the face about five times before she managed to flee about 10.20am on April 4. Investigating detectives have since released mobile footage given to them by a have-a-go hero who witnessed the attack. The passing motorist managed to step in before the woman could be attacked again – chasing the suspect and filming him on his phone. In the footage, the suspect can be seen being sent sprawling on the road as he is confronted before managing to escape. The woman was hospitalised, treated for “sustained swelling” and pain to her eye. Police have now linked the attack to two more incidents – with one having unfolded just minutes before. A 27-year-old woman was sexually assaulted when a man ran up to her on Philip Lane about 10.15am. The suspect had punched her in the face before running towards Tottenham High Road. Police have linked the attacks in North London The first attack unfolded on April 3, with a woman approached by a man who tried to speak to her – but she couldn’t hear him as she was wearing headphones. The suspect the kicked her, swearing at her before fleeing on Tottenham Green East just before 8pm. Police released CCTV of the incident as part of their appeal for information. In all offences the suspect is described as a black male of slim to medium build. Detective Inspector Paul Ridley from North Area CID said it was believed the incidents were linked. He said: “All the offences are clearly sexually motivated and the random nature, additional violence and aggressive behaviour by the assailant towards these young women is concerning. “The incidents have occurred within a very close proximity, two in the same street within minutes of each other. The women were understandably left extremely distraught.
All the offences are clearly sexually motivated and the random nature, additional violence and aggressive behaviour by the assailant towards these young women is concerning
“The mobile phone footage captures the male wearing a distinctive red baseball hat, blue jeans, white trainers with a black leather rucksack on his back. He is also carrying at least one sports racquet and a protective cover made by the company ‘Pro Baseline’ which appears to be for a tennis racquet. “If you put all these clues together and believe you know this man, I need you to come forward as a priority.” FEARS OF SERIAL ATTACKER He added there were fears the suspect “may have followed other women” in the area. Det Insp Ridley said: “I would therefore urge anyone who may have been assaulted but has not reported it, or who has seen a male matching the description of the attacker to approach the investigation team. You may hold vital information. “If you are in the area please remain vigilant and if you have any concerns then do not hesitate to contact police immediately. I can reassure residents that officers in uniform and plain clothes are fully investigating these incidents and are conducting patrols.” [article-rail-section title=”MOST READ IN NEWS ” posts_category=”2″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact North Area CID via 101, or by tweeting @MetCC quoting: Operation Carrera.
