THEY whipped up a frenzy after posting a picture of themselves back in the studio.
And I can confirm the Sugababes — or MKS as they are now known — are recording new music and going on tour.
The original Sugababes — or MKS as they are now known — are recording new music and going on tour
In an exclusive interview, Mutya Buena told me the group — which includes original members Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy — are also working on another project and an event to coincide with 20 years since their debut album, One Touch, next year.
Mutya said: “We’re working on new music and have a secret project that should be made public later this year. Plus we are working on something special for our fans that is coming out for our 20th anniversary.
“As well as the music we’ve planned a tour. We need to put it out there for everyone to see and hear us again.
“Everything new we are working on will be classic Sugababes/MKS sounds. I’m excited to get out there.”
The group formed in 1998 and released first album One Touch two decades ago
The Sugababes formed in 1998 and, after releasing One Touch in 2000, went on to have a string of hits.
But the following year Siobhan quit, followed by Mutya in 2005 and the band frequently changed faces, with Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen all joining the line-up at different points.
In 2013 Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan formed MKS and released single Flatline.
And while there have been no releases since — Mutya insisted the band have been constantly working on new tunes.
The group previously featured Heidi Rang and Amelle Berrabah alongside Keisha
She said: “We’ve not really stopped being together and it’s been five years now.
“We’ve been working on music but everyone’s got their own lives as well.
“The reaction to the picture we put online was overwhelming. “We can’t wait to get started. Next year will be our year.”
Welcome back, ladies . . .

Lew in the loo but Pete takes the pee
ONE is a budding superstar who’s got Noel Gallagher quaking in his boots.
The other is a washed-out rocker who counts Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse as exes.
And I know who I would rather have tickets to see.
Lewis Capaldi played a great set at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre on Saturday
Lewis Capaldi smashed his set at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre on Saturday and led an 8,000-strong sing- along to Someone You Loved.
And the joker delighted his fans further by having to dash off stage for a loo break. Lewis took his microphone with him – and filled his fans in on all the details.
The crowd howled with laughter as he told them: “Whoops I’m in the ladies now . . . almost done . . . I’ll be right back.”
But 230 miles down the road in Amersham, Bucks, revellers who had queued to watch Pete Doherty at the Penn Festival found they had nothing to laugh about.
Peter Doherty struggled through his set at the Penn Festival
The notorious caner let down those who’d travelled to watch him perform, with kids’ TV presenter Dave Benson Phillips forced to intervene when he struggled through his set.
Pete, who found fame in The Libertines, lurched through the performance.
And it didn’t help that in his stained white T-shirt and grey pyjama bottom he looked as though he’d just rolled out of bed.
Fans started to desert the set shortly after Pete started singing. And when Dave asked the crowds if they’d enjoyed his lacklustre performance, they shouted: “No” in unison.
