We would think a fisherman watching a massive humpback whale breach right in front his boat would be something to get excited about. That doesn’t seem to be the case for this salmon fisherman, who had a whale leap from the water right in front of him. His boat didn’t get smashed, capsized, or splashed, […]

I love lines. I love colors. I love clear boundaries. I love following the rules. I love a brisk yes. And although it’s not always what I’m looking for, I love a decisive no. The strong, heavy lines of my curtain rod against the soft lines of my light silvery grey curtains, is spectacular. Watching […]

There was a tiny cat, who padded quietly and hilariously on whisper feet through the two apartments I lived longest in my adult life. We found her on Valentines Day, at a kitten sale by the Humane Society, my boyfriend and I at the time, whom I glibly and somewhat rudely call Dave One. (Sometimes […]

Costumes are a television show essential. Without them, a show is rendered completely unbelievable, but with them they catapult our imaginations to a particular time and place, leaving behind a legacy in the process. Whether it’s Villanelle’s pink dress in Killing Eve or Ugly Betty’s poncho, there’s usually always more than meets the eye and a whole world of tiny details that escape unnoticed. Each week Back Into The Closet will deliver an exclusive look into the wardrobes of some of the world’s leading series to bring you all the costume secrets and niceties we might have missed. Last time, we caught up with Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant, but this time around we’re bringing you all the gems from Netflix‘s latest bingeable dark comedy Dead To Me thanks to Trayce Gigi Field. Season 2 is pretty much going to happen A second season is in the works (Picture: Netflix) Most of us unashamedly binged Dead To Me in one sitting leaving us hungry for more Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini’s on our screens. Although Netflix is yet to officially announce a second season, Trayce has pretty much revealed that all systems go. ‘When we do a second season you’ll see some reoccurring pieces,’ she told us. Hooray! Judy wore a bracelet with a bird on and our minds are blown Judy wore a bird bracelet on her left wrist (Picture: Netflix) Jen’s youngest son Henry (played by Luke Roessler) believed that his dead dad Ted had been reborn as a bird which frequently came to visit the Hardings home. The bird motif channeled through the 10-part season and was attributed to the deceased character the whole way through and now Trayce has dropped the bomb that Judy wore a bracelet with the animal on. Did this symbol that she was carrying the weight of Ted’s death around with her? We’re gonna say yes. ‘Judy has this bracelet that she wore pretty much in every scene,’ Trayce began. ‘It was a silver cuff that had a bird on it. ‘The bird theme became so important because Ted would appear in the window as a bird and then in the end when she gave the cheque inside the bird to the son.’ She added: ‘The bracelet was the one thing I questioned whether people would pick up on.’ The clothes gave absolutely nothing away  There weren’t any secret spoilers in the clothes (Picture: Netflix) If you were looking at the costumes for a sign of what to come then you wouldn’t have got very far. Trayce explained that there were zero visual hints at how the storyline would progress, telling us: ‘We tried very hard to not give away anything. ‘In real life you’re not always dressed for what’s going to happen and so we didn’t drop any clues.’ Judy’s clothes really did burn in the fire Judy did put Jen’s clothes in the fire (Picture: Netflix) The final episode sees Jen gather together all of Judy’s belongings and toss them onto naked flames in her back garden. ‘Some of them were duplicates of things that she had worn,’ Trayce revealed. ‘Other things were just stuff we got from thrift stores and things that were Judy-esque. ‘Some were real and some were fluff.’ [metro-tag-post-strip] Trayce Gigi Field is the costume designer on Dead To Me Back Into The Closet is a weekly series that delves into most iconic costumes to ever grace television, from shows past and present.
