Regardless of your area of interest, we all felt the loss of someone from the celebrity world last year – from political big-shots like George […]

With so many cookie-cutter superhero movies knocking around these days, there was a burr of excitement when it was announced that Seth Rogen would bring his deceptively smart take on fratboy humour and his Sid James chuckle to the tale of The Green Hornet, the latest billionaire-playboy-turned-masked-crimefighter to leave the clubhouse. Then, after a brief […]

Big ghosts don’t cry-yi-yi (they don’t cry),
Big ghosts don’t cry (who said they don’t cry?),
My ghost said goodbye-yi-yi (my oh my),
My ghost didn’t cry (I wonder why)

Dear everyone, Processed white sugar is not evil. In fact, I’ve been using it for therapeutic purposes for many years now. When I was withdrawing from Ritalin, I was having 3 – 4 cups of sugar a day. Stress will burn through lots of energy, but it will also eat up your body as well…leading […]

The Seventh Annual Northern Nights Music Festival will take place July 19-21. Every summer, NNMF blooms an inclusive atmosphere for three days in a celebration of unity through music, yoga, art, culture, experiences, and discovery — all tinged with innovation. This year, NNMF is bringing a dynamic lineup to Northern California which includes headliners Big Wild — who’s pushing the boundaries of modern electronic music with his sweeping soundscapes — and Southern California tastemakers and record label Desert Hearts bringing the techno/house vibes. NN has never been about traditional music. As hospitality entrepreneur Chip Conely said, “Northern Nights is not your cookie cutter festival” and as festival co-founder Andrew Blap says, “NNMF has the best lineup that no one knows about. After our fans discover their new favorite artist on the river, they’ll find that same artist selling out their next show in the Bay Area.” This year is no different, with indigenous hip-hop artist Xiuhtezcatl (pronounced shu-TEZ-catl)— a climate change activist who also collaborated with Jaden Smith recently, Noodles— a Filipino woman from the Bay Area who has an alter ego as Kehlani’s DJ, and Dirtybird’s all-star Sacha Robotti. Diversifying the lineup even further are notable bass acts CharlestheFirst and Shades (Eprom x Alix Perez), funk-fueled Con Brio and The Funk Hunters, the electronic-dance sounds of Australia’s Crooked Colours, a takeover hosted by Burning Man’s DISTRIKT camp, and hip-hop’s Odie from San Francisco’s Empire Records. NNMF is located directly off Highway 101 and is easily accessible from the north or the south. The location is pristine, nestled on the historic Cook’s Valley Campground on the border of Mendocino and Humboldt counties. Upon arriving, the lack of cell reception gives attendees the ability to completely unplug. The sense of adventure the location instills is like nothing else, with the freedom to dip into the Eel River by the River Stage, dance amidst the redwoods at the Grove Stage, peruse art installations, and seclude yourself in the sounds of the Silent Disco. Combined, the festival features a total of six immersive stages including the return of The Bunker Stage— a natural amphitheater overlooking the river. After the best winter rain in 20 years on the Eel River aka The California Nile, swimming is expected to be prime, too. Tickets are on sale now — 2018’s festival hit capacity and this year’s Early Eel tickets sold out quick. VIP and camping upgrades are also available as extra perks. Northern Nights 2019 Lineup includes: Big Wild, Desert Hearts: MIkey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, Rybo, Lubelski, Charles The First, Con Brio, Crooked Colours, Distrikt, Noodles, Odie, Sacha Robotti, Shades, The Funk Hunters, Ziuchtezcatl.

Aurora Rising is the The Breakfast Club meets Guardians of the Galaxy with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Romeo as the golden boy and a Lee Pace-esque elf: at least, that’s how co-author Jay Kristoff describes it on Goodreads.
