(Picture: BBC) Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Martin (James Bye) haven’t had an easy time in EastEnders as of late, but in spite of the pair’s troubles, their commitment to one another hasn’t faltered. However, could Stacey be about to throw it all away by straying with Max Branning (Jake Wood) once more? With Stacey and Kat (Jessie Wallace) still at each other’s throats, Martin and Kush (Davood Ghadami) devise a plan to sort this feud out once and for all. Unfortunately, this plan of theirs doesn’t quite pan out — and Stacey is left upset with her husband over his meddling. However, the following day, she resolves to clear the atmosphere, and thus plans to make a surprise romantic meal. Later, she bumps into Max and proceeds to give him some stern advice, but after he cuts himself on a broken picture frame, she makes a shocking discovery — but just what is it that she’s found out? Unable to hide his grief any longer, Max completely breaks down in front of Stacey and — feeling compelled to stay with him — she ignores Martin’s calls. On this decision, Lacey said: ‘Max needs Stacey more than Martin at that precise moment; it’s as simple as that. Stacey knows she’s supposed to be having a romantic night in with Martin, but seeing Max so desperate she can’t just leave him.’ Max has had a tough time as of late, what with Rainie (Tanya Franks) doing a bunk with baby Abi, Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) having rejected his advances, and Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) having been released from prison — the latter of which has brought back many bad memories for him. Stacey is the one person he’s always been able to open up to, so it’s no wonder he finds himself drawn to her once more. Lacey said: ‘Max is clearly not coping without Abi, and nobody knows Max better than Stacey. They’ve got so much history, she can read him like a book. Seeing him struggling, Stacey is drawn to help, she cares about Max, she always will’. Stacey later explains to Martin that she can’t make dinner, and he’s incredibly understanding about the whole thing. Afterwards, she heads back to Max’s to check on him once more, but — unbeknownst to them — Martin glares at Max’s house for across the Square. Has his suspicions been raised? What’s more, does he have any reason to actually be suspicious? It would appear so, as — later in the week — Stacey panics when she wakes at Max’s place. But has anything transpired between her and her former lover? Has history repeated itself once again? One to watch: Thursday 25th July at 7:30pm on BBC One.
