What’s to become of our favourite heroes and villains in the series finale? (Picture: Fox)
We’ll be honest – we just don’t want to say goodbye to Gotham just yet, and we want to ignore the inevitable for as long as possible.
However, the Dark Knight needs to rise, the Joker needs to come out to play and Detective Gordon needs to keep bursting through doors yelling ‘GCPD’ with a gun in his hand.
So why fight the inevitable?
With the final episode mere days away, here’s everything that we want to see happen as we prepare to say goodbye to the wacky and wonderful world that is home to Batman forever.
Part of the joy of Batman is all the fancy AF gadgets that are in his arsenal and help him become the Caped Crusader – so as much as we’re looking forward to seeing Batman, we also want to see his stuff.
Forget Batman himself – we want to see his cool gadgets (Picture: Fox)
Thanks to photos from the set, we know Lucius Fox is actually around for some of the finale, maybe it’s to help the newly-returned Bruce with the fancy new swag he’s been creating while he’s been gone?
An action shot of Batman zooming to the rescue in his slick car would also be highly appreciated – maybe to stop a bad guy from doing something stupid at an unnecessary high speed?
Seeing Bruce as Batman is something we’re all excited about but let’s be honest, we’d rather have his super cool car than that ultra-inconvenient rubber suit.
The Joker’s finale form has definitely shaken the fandom – but will he shake Gotham? (Picture: Fox)
Batman and Joker showdown
Ever since Jerome Valeska first appeared on our screens back in season one and managed to win us over with his maniacal grin and his penchant for murder, we’ve been wanting this showdown.
A Batman needs a Joker more than Batman needs a Robin in our eyes, and after so many near misses and fights between Jerome/Jeremiah and Bruce – this is really the moment we’ve been waiting for.
Ever since the moment at ACE Chemicals sent our expectations spiralling, this new look Joker is a version like we’ve never seen before on screen, so god knows what he’s got to lose now.
Selena and Bruce reunite
Poor Selena was left heartbroken when Bruce disappeared from her life forever at the end of the penultimate episode with nothing but a note.
The girl who will become Catwoman has always balanced on a fine line between being good and evil, and with 10 years just zooming by, the dark side could’ve claimed her fully.
She could also have built up some serious resentment for Bruce, who had become more than just a friend to her.
Can they bring themselves to get back together or are they now fighting for the opposite team?

The Penguin Fat Suit
Robin Lord Taylor has promised us a fat suit and the monocle to complete the iconic look that gave the Penguin his name.
We’ve seen brief glimpses of it thanks to brief snippets and set photos, but now we’re going to get to see it in action properly.
He’s been slowly heading in that direction for a while now, so let’s see what 10 years has done to him…
Spending most of his time with Edward Nygma/The Riddler (no change there then), it seems like the pair have teamed up to be the most hapless crime lords Gotham has to offer and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Harvey to be OK
If there’s one person that’s managed to hold everything together over the seasons, even more so than Detective/Commissioner Gordon, then it’s Harvey Bullock.
Starting off as a skeptical man with a bit of a drinking problem and a complete disinterest in his job, his friendship with Gordon has turned him into a true hero of Gotham.
Though still with a bit of a drinking problem.
However, with the final episode leaving nothing off limits, the odds are stacked against Harvey, who in the lore of the DC Universe could easily be seen as the most dispensable character among the other more well-known faces (except perhaps Barbara Kean).
We just need to know that that man is going to be OK. If he dies, we will riot.

Two-Face makes a comeback
It’s a bit out of left-field, but we’ve already spoken about our upset that Harvey Dent was one of many characters that disappeared without a trace, so to have him come back in some way would be pretty great.
Even if it’s an opening scene where he gets Penguin or Riddler off in a court of law…or something would be pretty amazing. Just as a throwback to those who have been around for the start.
We didn’t even get to see him become a proper bad guy – just a bit dodgy in Gotham relativity.
Perhaps he can team up with the Bruce Wayne clone and the journalist Jim Gordon was sleeping with and we never saw again to start some kind of support group.
The origin of Batgirl
So Barbara Kean and Commissioner Gordon have had a baby girl, and that girl (Barbara Lee Gordon) has her own destiny in the history of Batman.
She is destined to be Batgirl (or the Oracle, depending on which plot you follow) and has been since 1967, when Barbara first appeared in the comics and TV show.
Granted the Gotham version is only 10 years old, but they could easily give nods to who she could grow up to be – for instance making her helpful to the cause thanks to her natural technical skills, or practicing to be like the guy her dad’s friends with.
We’re not saying put her in a mask and cape just yet, we’re just saying don’t let her be a pawn in the others game. She might be 10 but she has something to bring to the table, we’re sure of it.
Gotham airs Thursdays on Fox in the US and at a later date in the UK.
