Lisa's 2019 miles in 2019

10th to 16th June That’s a promise. According to pessimistic weather app on my phone. Apologies to the purists, but it’s got to be Bryan’s cover, not Bob’s original (and was Bryan Ferry actually very good looking? Can’t quite decide. Love his music, though). Monday. No rain appears. Take a turn around Harwood. Jessie leads […]

Mackenzie Booth arrives in Home and Away (Picture: Seven) Fans will know that Brody is gearing up to leave Summer Bay with new love Simone. On UK time, actor Jackson Heywood’s scenes will take place in mid July – but over in Australia, a mysterious newcomer has just turned up, and fans are speculating that she has something to do with Dean. Actress Emily Weir will appear on UK screens in the next few weeks as new Salt owner Mackenzie Booth – and it isn’t long before she starts ruffling feathers. Removing the ‘Sold’ sign from the front of Salt, we see Mackenzie smile and say: ‘This is going to be fun’. After receiving a warm welcome from Alf and Roo, Colby asks if it’s her car parked illegally a short distance away. Not realising Colby’s a cop, Mackenzie proudly admits to owning the flashy vehicle – but she isn’t so happy later when Colby turns up in his uniform and gives her a parking fine. Why is Mackenzie really in Summer Bay? (Picture: Seven) Fans have been abuzz on social media, wondering if Mackenzie is connected to anyone in the Bay, and rumours are circulating that she’s Dean’s sister. Hints that the two will be getting closer in upcoming episodes are revealed on Back to the Bay, with the episode showing in the UK on July 22 stating that Mackenzie will be trying to get to know Dean better, and Ziggy encouraging Dean to do the same in the following episode. Are they long lost siblings? Whatever happens, New Idea has revealed that her ‘shock bombshell’ will leave Dean stunned… It’s not just Dean that Mackenzie could be striking up a relationship with – Mackenzie’s preview scenes show that, after their altercation about the parking fine, Colby sits down with the newcomer and shares a flirty conversation. When he asks why she bought a business in an area she knows nothing about, Mackenzie replies ‘I like a challenge, you should know that about me by now.’ But, as the preview trailer for her arrival states – why is she really here? In an interview on Seven, we find out a little more about Mackenzie: “When Mackenzie arrives in the Bay, she is quite a mystery. She is guarded because she is hurt by her upbringing and her father. She is careful who she opens up to in her personal and private life. Having purchased Salt, Mackenzie is a woman who knows what she wants.” [metro-link url=”https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/16/home-and-away-spoilers-horror-showdown-for-simone-during-raffys-birthday-surprise-9944156/” title=”Home and Away spoilers: Horror showdown for Simone during Raffy’s birthday surprise”] [metro-link url=”https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/15/home-and-away-spoilers-bella-tells-police-colby-murdered-ross-in-explosive-outburst-9931836/” title=”Home and Away spoilers: Bella tells police Colby murdered Ross in explosive outburst?”]

Patricia didn’t know that Gypsy disapproved until after she shot the series (Picture: Hulu; HBO) Patricia Arquette has spoken out in defence of new series The Act after the creators of the show used Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s real-life horror story without her consent. Gypsy suffered nearly 20 years of abuse at the hands of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard, with the young teen and people around her being made to believe that she was terminally ill – when in fact she was perfectly healthy. She is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for the murder of her mother, after she conspired with boyfriend Nick Godejohn to kill her in June 2015. Her horrific tale has become the source material for dramatic retelling, The Act – starring Patricia as mother Dee Dee and Joey King as Gypsy. But the real Gypsy has since made clear she had no part of the series and did not give permission for her life story to be used. Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Patricia made clear that she was unaware of the level of discomfort the series brought the now 27-year-old Gypsy, and said: ‘I do have complicated feelings about Gypsy not participating in some kind of way, but there’s also laws in some states where if you murder someone you can’t participate, so I don’t even know. ‘I don’t know if it’s federal, or certain states or what, but I don’t know…it’s very complicated.’ Patricia plays Dee Dee Blanchard with Joey King playing abused daughter Gypsy (Picture: Hulu) However she added that Gypsy’s involvement could’ve had a negative effect on the series as much as a positive one would have, and added: ‘On one hand, when you have them participate, you can get more access to more information, and that’s really helpful as an actor. ‘On the other hand, sometimes they don’t want to tell things that really happened because it doesn’t look good for them. So then they’re dictating the story for their own interest and sometimes that’s not great for the material or the story. I don’t know.’ In a statement released to Bustle shortly around the US release date of The Act, Gypsy stated that she did not consent to her life story being used by the series creators, and was planning on suing them. DeeDee would deliberately keep Gypsy sick as part of her Munchausen by Proxy She wrote: ‘I am unable to watch The Act. However, I feel it is very unfair and unprofessional that producers and co-producer Michelle Dean has used my actual name and story without my consent, and the life rights to do so. ‘Therefore, there will be legal action taken against the show’s creators.’ So would Patricia have agreed to have taken part in The Act if she was more aware of Gypsy’s feelings towards the series? The real Gypsy Rose has been sentenced for 10 years for her mother’s murder (Picture: HBO) [metro-video id=”1887956″] ‘That’s a good question,’ Patricia said. ‘I had no option, because I was already done, pretty much! At some point I found out that they weren’t communicating. ‘This is a story where people got killed, and this is a story where bad things happen. I don’t really know how I feel.’ Ultimately, she hopes that the results of people watching this series is a positive one, and people become more aware of the signs of Munchausen’s by Proxy. [metro-tag-post-strip] ‘I feel that I hope that doctors start questioning “Is this kid really sick or not?” because what happened to Gypsy is happening right now,’ the star asserted. ‘So I am excited about any awareness this brings to the whole syndrome that is happening.’ The Act is available to stream on STARZPLAY via Amazon Prime in the UK, and Hulu in the US.
