Once upon a time in a far far far away land lived young girl who was dreaming of meeting her Knight in Shining Armour, her Prince Charming, hoping, praying he would ride into her life and rescue her from her dull and dreary existence… Isn’t that how our fairy-tales all started, well at least something […]

My Geekdom

Its been an uneven month thus far with the films I’ve been watching. Not getting a lot of romantic films that I genuinely liked. Most ranging from ‘meh’ to okay. According to my Letterboxd only 3 films at **** and higher. One of which was Wizard Of Oz. Going forward I wrap up romantic films […]

Buy the book… and in exchange, you get a ride. Maybe an illuminating one. The textbook teaches as well as a good classroom and infinitely better than a bad one. Maybe a thrilling one. The crime novel or the forty shades takes you places in yourself that are mysterious. Maybe a rhetorical one. ‘These are […]

Films written by comedians have a somewhat strange past. I say that because if it’s a comedy, it tends to do pretty well. But if that comedy has anything to do with drama, it tends to fall off somewhat. A good example of this is Judd Apatow. Most of Apatow’s comedies, Bridesmaids being an example, are just ripe with transcending comedy. But when Apatow tries his hand at drama, say Funny People, it just seems to kind of fall apart.

Spo-Reflections

A few posts ago I mentioned the authors I admire and like to read and who inspire me to write. A few Spo-fans suggested I write about them. Here’s one of them; if it is well-received I will do another.  Spo. ‘Things are never so indescribably ghastly that they can’t get worse’ – Alice Thomas […]

Pictured: A surrogate family of students and their cool college professor. My history as a Marvel comics fan was similar to most who grew up in the nineties I imagine. I was vaguely aware of characters such as Spider-Man but only really became interested enough to dig deeper into the comics and extra lore when […]

Following on from my previous article where I gushed fondly over what ‘Discovery’ might have been with Captain Georgiou at the conn, I would like now to take a closer look at the show’s main protagonist, Michael Burnham. Burnham is a fascinating subject. Divisive amongst fans for all sorts of reasons (some of which are […]

Brief description of the book: Worldbuilding is the ultimate act of creation for speculative fiction writers, but how exactly do you worldbuild? You ask ‘what if’ and use each answer as a springboard to more questions and answers about your fictional world. In THE A-ZS OF WORLDBUILDING, that ‘what if’ process is broken down […]

A powerful take on the Jussie Smollett situation. The symbolism, the stereotypes, the sensationalism. His allegations of faking a hate crime are nothing short of deplorable. What can we learn from this debacle? #faith

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) took marijuana reform supporters by pleasant surprise when he endorsed legalization last year after previously calling cannabis a “gateway drug” that should remain prohibited. But for advocates, there was at least one major disappointment in store when he got around to revealing the details of his plan: the proposal, […]
