Stephen Graham said a lack of job opportunities where he grew up saw him turn to crime (Picture: Getty) Line Of Duty star Stephen Graham got involved in petty crime after being kicked out of drama school as a teen. The actor said the lack of opportunities when he was growing up in Merseyside caused him to run into trouble. He told The Sun: ‘There were no jobs and lots of people turned to crime – or heroin. We were into car robbing. We’d nick Porsches to bring back to estate.’ When he was 15, the he spent time in a cell as the police tried to scare him straight. ‘I was doing a play in Chester by Willy Russell called Our Day Out, and me and this other lad took a starter pistol from a prop table. ‘To teach us a lesson, the police took us to a police cell where we spent two hours. It was a great scare tactic.’ Obviously the actor has settled down now he’s an adult, and enjoys the quiet life with his family – wife of 11 years Hannah Walters and their kids Grace, 12, and Alfie, 10. The Little Boy Blue star is currently stealing the show in series five of Line Of Duty, as undercover officer John Corbett. Graham added: ‘It still doesn’t feel real seeing myself on TV.’ Stephen is stealing the show as John Corbett (Picture: BBC) He previously spoke of his fears of being mistaken for an actual criminal while filming an armed robbery scene in Belfast. The actor and his co-stars threw themselves into shooting a scene where they had just committed a robbery. ‘We shot off, and we were actually driving through the streets of Belfast with our balaclavas and machine guns in the car,’ he explained. Noticing what they must have looked like, they headed back to set sharpish before there was a misunderstanding. Graham added: ‘That was quite funny, but wouldn’t have been too funny if people had seen.’ Series five will bow out with a bumper 90-minute episode as AC-12 try to work out the identity of ‘H’, the head of a ring of corrupt police officers. Line Of Duty airs Sundays at 9pm on BBC One. Anson Mount has bid farewell to Star Trek Discovery (Picture: Netflix) Anson Mount has bid a fond farewell to Star Trek Discovery and thanked his fans for their continuous support as his final episodes aired in the series finale. Taking a moment to celebrate his character and the fandom around the show, sharing a photo from his final episode a few hours before it aired. He wrote: ‘Tonight’s the night. Thank you to CBS All Access, Star Trek, CBS TV Studios, Alex Kurtzman, the entire writing staff, Sonequa Martin-Green, the entire cast & crew and, most importantly, TO THE FANS. ‘It’s been a hell of a ride. Thank you for letting me take it.’ While his time on Star Trek Discovery is over, it appears that Mount isn’t against coming back to the universe for another round, and told fans he was ‘touched and humbled’ last week when a petition started making the rounds for Pike to get his own spin off.
