By Kent Whitaker When I was working on my Texas Hometown Cookbook, I realized several things. One of them was how much the flavors from traditional Texas cooking and dishes from South of the border have in common. Why, because regional flavors are still regional even if there’s a border in place! Secondly, people seem […]

Patricia Hill, 69, was sentenced to 16 years in jail for killing her husband after she discovered he had bought pornography (Picture: Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office) A woman will be in jail until she is 85-years-old for killing her husband after she caught him watching porn. Patricia Hill, 69, was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Tuesday after she was found guilty of murdering her 65-year-old husband Frank Hill on July 28, 2018 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In court, Hill claimed that she flew into a rage and shot her husband to death after she discovered a $30 charge on their Dish Network bill for a pornographic channel. Dr James Moneypenny, a psychologist, testified that Hill’s discovery of the porn bill was ‘the concept of the last straw,’ the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. He said: ‘Her mind was empty. There was nothing going through it. She was overwhelmed.’ Frank Hill, 65, died while in his shed, which he had reportedly been spending the majority of his time, his wife testified (Picture: Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office) Moneypenny was referring to the Hills’ marriage, which saw the two drift apart as Frank spent increasing time in his ‘man cave,’ which was a utility shed in the backyard of the home. Hill said: ‘He was sitting out in the shed drinking beer and watching TV, football or whatever he was doing out there. He had his pee bucket out there.’ [metro-zone-post-thumbnail-link] The shed would ultimately become the scene of the murder, shortly after Hill discovered her husband had been paying for porn. The X-rated habit was one Frank continuously promised to abandon, but never did, according to Hill’s lawyer Bill James. James told the Pine Bluff Commercial: ‘(It was) a personal affront to her and her god. She told him over and over again to stop, and he said he would but went right back to doing it…(Her) reality snapped.’ Hill testified: ‘I told him that it was something I could not tolerate. I thought after we got married that it would go away.’ Patricia Hill called police shortly after shooting her husband dead. Officers arrived and found a gun and a Dish Network bill (Picture: Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office) When she saw the latest porn bill, Hill said she snapped and went out to the shed to confront her husband, who responded: ‘What does it hurt?’ she testified. She asked him to leave the shed, but he refused, so she went in the house and grabbed a .22 caliber pistol. Hill returned and shot her husband in the leg and the head. [metro-zone-post-thumbnail-link] After the shooting, Hill returned to her house and called police, who found the pistol and and the Dish Network bill. In court, prosecutor Holden Raines said: ‘At the end of her statemented (Hill) tells you why she did it. It was something she just couldn’t tolerate so she got her gun and shot him twice.’
