IBM Marketplace is the company’s digital store where people can discover, try, and purchase a series of technical services (ranging from data analytics to cloud service). This is a landmark deal for us.Alex He, VP Sales, GLCM China These purchases will be made using HSBC’s Omni Channel, a solution designed by the China Technology team together with Asia Pacific Payment’s IT and Architects. It was developed using an Agile approach in close collaboration with CMB’s Global Liquidity and Cash Management team, and with a fintech third-party payment company in China. “This deal will not only help us market the Omni Channel to other large corporates,” said Alex He, VP Sales, GLCM China, who helped put the deal together. “It will also help increase our penetration amongst the key technology players in China, as well as demonstrate our strong and coherent capability to integrate with the ever-changing digital payments market.” The deal involved piloting a number of firsts, such as the first recurring payments function in HSBC China; the first Omni Channel deal of report delivery via sFTP for auto-reconciliation; and the first collaboration with a digital platform that sells virtual products. What’s the Omni Channel? The Omni Channel enables corporate customers in China to collect mobile payments through all the major ‘e-wallet’ apps – including Alipay, ApplePay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay. For retailers, especially multinational companies setting up in the country, collecting the money from all the different apps is expensive because building a direct interface with each one requires investment. These multinationals trust us to be able to help them understand their problems and provide a solution. We started to provide the service in February this year.
