EASTENDERS fans were shocked when they tuned into the BBC One soap this evening only to hear Martin Fowler proclaim: “Ruby, you can’t cut his bits off.” Martin and his wife Stacey burst into Ruby’s flat seconds before she was about to take a knife to her rapist Ross’ privates after she was seen drugging him during last night’s episode. Martin warned Ruby not to cut Ross’ bits off Scared that Ross and his friend Matt won’t be found guilty when they appear in court for raping her while she was drunk and barely conscious, Ruby decided to exact revenge on the criminal herself. With Ross unconscious after being drugged, Ruby compared his inability to say “no” to her revenge to her being unable to say “no” to having sex with him and Matt, picking up a knife as she warned that she was going to make sure that he couldn’t hurt another woman in the way that he had hurt her. However, having seen incriminating texts on Matt’s phone at the Queen Vic, Martin was worried that it was actually Ruby who was in danger and he and Stacey raced round to her flat – shocked when they found Johnny Allen’s daughter pulling at the unconscious man’s trousers on the floor. The powerful scenes saw Stacey tell her best friend that she would support her “no matter what” she decided to do with Ross – with Martin perplexed that the idea was even being entertained. Ruby had drugged her rapist in a bid to get revenge The distressed character was caught by Stacey and Martin In a moment of accidental comic relief among the distressing episode, Martin remarked: “Ruby, you can’t cut his bits off” – leaving viewers tickled. Taking to social media, one fan wrote: “On tonight’s episode of things I never expected anyone to say on #EastEnders: ‘Ruby you can’t cut his bits off'”. Another added: “‘Ruby you can’t cut his bits off!’ OK not a phrase I was ever expecting to hear on this show”. EastEnders has released a trailer showcasing the biggest storylines being covered in April and therearedramatic scenes ahead for the Mitchells as well as Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright). As Ruby takes to the stand in her rape trial, she is nervous about what she will face but Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) gives her a pep talk that this is her chance to get the truth out. Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) also returns alongside Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) and her daughter Lexi after Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) becomes suspicious of Phil (Steve McFadden) and Keanu’s (Danny Walters) antics and troubles in Spain. Phil is seen punching the door of the Arches in rage as everything consumes him but will Ben’s arrival be something that will help or hinder him moving forward? Meanwhile, as Jean is being impacted by her chemotherapy, she bravely decides to conquer her fears and climb to the top of the O2 centre, with a terrified Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) by her side. Jean reminds a frightened Shirley that she doesn’t have to do this – the chemo will be Jean’s battle alone. What will Shirley decide? (Picture: BBC) Elsewhere, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) becomes involved in Tiffany Butcher’s (Maisie Smith) case as he tries to get through to her that she was groomed by the gang she became a part of. Jack wants to do everything he can to help her, but is he getting the full story from Tiffany? And finally, Keanu can be seen grimly reflecting on the choices he has made and the situation he has ended up forced into. But is it too late for him to escape as he finds himself out of his depth? And when Louise (Tilly Keeper) is targeted, will this all go too far and end in tragedy? [metro-zone-post-strip]

The pressure gets too much for Stacey (Picture: BBC) The pressure looks set to get the best of Stacey Fowler in EastEnders as she’s cross-examined at Ruby Allen’s rape trial. Ruby, played by Louisa Lytton, made her dramatic return to EastEnders in 2018 amid a storyline that led to her being raped by Martin’s friends Matt and Ross. The pair looked set to be brought to justice after they were charged but it seems things don’t completely go to plan with Stacey’s (Lacey Turner) testimony as she tries to support her friend. Ruby was raped in October by Ross and Matt (Picture: BBC) The character suffered the assault in October after a night out in which she spent time with some of Martin’s mates. She slept with one of the men only to pass out and wake up to find another man on top of her. It was only after Stacey pointed out to her that she did not consent to sex, and had not been in any state to consent, that she realised she had been raped. Ruby is cross examined as she tries to get justice (Picture: BBC) ‘I couldn’t move, I didn’t do anything I just laid there. I didn’t say no,’ Ruby told Stacey. ‘You didn’t say yes,’ Stacey pointed out. But will the pair actually be brought to justice? Both Matt and Ross were charged with rape after Ruby reported the incident to police, but she had a difficult time proving her ordeal happened, after a photo of her kissing Matt appeared on the front page of the Walford Gazette. [metro-video id=”1886020″] She later became involved in a sinister plan with Phil Mitchell, offering him a wad of cash and reminding him about their history, but was left furious after he advised her to let the legal system do its job. Fans heaped praise on the show after the ‘important’ storyline, which brought attention to rape culture and the topic of consent. [metro-tag-post-strip] Louisa has since revealed that she was ‘surprised’ at the reaction to the storyline, but explained she was ‘grateful to be trusted’ with such an important topic. ‘You have to do this justice because there will be millions of viewers watching that will relate, and that almost need this as support or confirmation, so it’s important that it is done right,’ she told Lorraine Kelly. You can get information, support and advice by visiting the Rape Crisis website, or calling their helpline on 0808 802 9999. (Picture: BBC) Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) and Bex Fowler (Jasmine Arrmfield) have been getting closer and closer in recent weeks in EastEnders. When Kush found out about Bex’s anxieties, they began spending more time together, and the teenager helped him when he realised he’d been selling stolen fur coats on his stall. Bex has clearly fallen for Kush, and when they were sat together chatting in E20, it all culminated in a kiss. When they were reminiscing about Shakil, Bex leaned in for the kiss, with Kush recoiling. It’s clear that Kush is many years older than Bex, and viewers have already expressed their worries that this could be a bad move for her. Bex helped Kush with his fur coat problem (Picture: BBC) According to EastEnders Wiki, Kush is 33 years old, and Bex is just 18. That’s a 15 year age gap. Given that her her protective dad Martin (James Bye) is also 33 and friends with Kush, it’s unlikely to be a smooth romance. Not to mention the fact that Bex’s last big storyline also featured an older man in the form of her own teacher Gethin Price. Back in 2017, she shared a kiss with her teacher, creating a scandal on the square. Will her relationship with Kush become the same power imbalanced mess? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – the person who tells Martin is going to get it in the neck (right before Kush does). (Pictures: Shutterstock/Metro) Spill it is the series where we get people to anonymously tell us about their drinking habits. We’re talking to men and women from all over the UK – unless anyone volunteers from abroad in which case we’re going international – about how much they really drink. Not how much they tell their doctor they drink, or a rough guesstimate, but the unvarnished boozy truth. This week we’re hearing from Carla (not her real name) who is a 45-year-old stay at home mum, who lives near St Albans. Friday  It’s been a long week but I’ve got a girls night tonight. I’ve got a close group of mates who live close together, within a few streets. We go out once a month for a night together. I pick my kids up from school – I’ve got a son who is nine and a daughter who is seven – and let them watch their iPads while I’m getting ready. My husband works a 45-minute drive away. He gets home around six and I go to meet the girls in a nice local pub that does cocktails. I start with a cosmopolitan, then have two pornstar martinis. I’m very drunk so swap to lemonade for a couple of hours. Then we go on to another pub, which is less nice but a lot cheaper. I have a Malibu and lemonade, which I know is tacky but makes me feel like I’m on holiday. Saturday I feel absolutely terrible on Saturday morning. My husband takes the kids to swimming and I sleep in trying to feel better. Lots of photos going around on our Whatsapp group from last night – I was a right mess. We watch a film on the sofa in the afternoon as a family which is nice, I try not to nod off – I don’t sleep well when I’ve had a lot to drink. In the evening the kids are both out on sleepovers. My husband drives them to their friends’ houses because I’m worried about still being over the limit. He wants us to go out for dinner but I can’t face it so we have a curry. He has a couple of beers but I can’t face the idea of a drink. Sunday  I was hoping to feel better when I woke up but I still feel bad – it’s a two-day hang over. I let the kids have their iPads because I feel guilty. We go out to a local pizza place for lunch. I offer to drive because I feel guilty. I spend the afternoon cleaning the house and getting everything ready for Monday morning. We watch rubbish telly. My husband has a glass of wine but I don’t fancy it. Monday  Monday is my favourite day of the week. I drop the kids at school and the spend the day sorting the house out. I’ve got loads of ironing to do so I catch up on Corrie and Eastenders while I do it. The kids have after school activities on a Monday so I pick them up late, then we do homework and eat as a family in the evening. Doesn’t occur to me to drink alcohol. Tuesday I have lunch with a friend. She orders a glass of Prosecco so I do the same. When I pick the kids up at 3.30 pm I feel worried that I’ll be over the limit. I know that one small glass at 1 pm won’t put me over, but I drive extra carefully anyway. Husband is out with friends so I can watch what I want on the TV! Wednesday  Husband takes the kids to school on Wednesday so I can have a lie in. I get up at 9 am and then do all the laundry. I go to the supermarket to do a food shop – I like it better than online shopping. I buy some beers for the husband and and some alcopops for me as we’ve got friends over at the weekend. Thursday Husband is home late from work and has been out with his mates. I’ve helped the kids with their homework and got them into bed. We watch Game of Thrones on the sofa. He has another beer when he gets home but I have a cup of tea. Friday I’ve got a birthday dinner for a friend tonight so I’m going to London. The kids are having dinner over at friends’ houses and then my husband is picking them up. We go for Champagne afternoon tea at a hotel in London where I have one glass. I don’t like Champagne that much but it’s included. Then we go to the big Primark, have a wander around the shops and then for cocktails. I order a pornstar martini and start to feel quite drunk. We go to a Brazilian restaurant for dinner and everyone orders pitchers of margarita, I don’t drink all of mine because I feel rough. I get home around 11 pm and go to bed. I will probably have a big hangover again tomorrow.
