EDDIE HOWE is talking about a January move for Callum McGregor. But Craig Gordon has warned Howe he will need to put his money where his Bournemouth is. Gordon believes McGregor won’t go cheap SunSport revealed yesterday the Cherries are weighing up a swoop for Celtic star McGregor. He is the top target for boss Howe in the transfer window after young Cherries midfielder Lewis Cook suffered a season-ending knee injury. Gordon isn’t the least bit surprised McGregor, 25, has attracted big attention after an outstanding campaign. But the Hoops No1 insists it will take huge money for any club to get him. The Hoops ace is being targeted by Bournemouth Gordon said: “For what Callum McGregor has already achieved, and with the talent he has, he’s shown he can perform at the top level against some of Europe’s best teams. “You are not taking a gamble. Callum is a player everyone knows is capable of playing at that level. He has already shown it for Celtic and is now getting more opportunities at international level. “You can see the players who have moved from Celtic to the Premier League in recent years have gone on to do really well. “So I have no doubt Callum is in that bracket in terms of quality. He could play for a number of teams all across Europe.” Asked if £20million would be the starting point for any club interested in McGregor, Gordon added: “I don’t know, it is crazy money now. “Certainly in terms of goals, and how important he is to this team, it would be very difficult to put a price on it. “But it would have to be a very big price for someone to come in and prise McGregor away because of the importance he has to the team. “He has been an excellent player for us for a number of years now. Celtic players – including McGregor – donated a £10,000 cheque to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital “He’s scored important goals and his performances in Scotland, Europe and internationally, have been excellent. “Anyone who has been looking at him will have been impressed. It’s not a recent thing either. He’s been consistently very good for a number of seasons. “It’s no surprise teams such as Bournemouth, as well as maybe higher up, will be looking at him. That’s what comes with success and being part of a successful team. “It’s only natural people will come looking at your best players. It’s entirely down to his performances.” McGregor’s displays are even keeping fit-again skipper Scott Brown on the bench, and Hoops gaffer Brendan Rodgers has singled him out for praise. With a historic treble Treble still on the cards, and a place in the last 32 of the Europa League very much on, Gordon knows the incentives for McGregor to stay put are massive. Gordon added: “Celtic is a great place to be. We’re playing some great football and the enjoyment factor of where we are, how we are playing and the group we have, you cannot easily dismiss that. “I have been lucky enough to play in the Premier League down south, and be part of different clubs and different dressing rooms. But to be part of something as special as this, you do not get it very often. Gordon has expressed his delight with life at Celtic “I do not think anybody has ever been in a hurry to leave. There are so many different things that can happen in a career. “But for us to be in this moment here, and part of this club at this special time, there will not be much better out there in terms of how good this feels. “How much money could compensate for that? “I would suggest it has to be an awful lot. Celtic is the place to be at the moment. It is a great club doing great things and playing so well. “You are not going to win everything every year. At Celtic, we have been incredibly lucky to have done that through our hard work and dedication. “It’s something that will be out of reach at other places. “Callum is a young player who has to make his own way in the world, and it’s great for him to be linked as there will always be choices out there.” Gordon had the chance a few years ago to leave Celts and sign for Chelsea, but the Scotland keeper insists the pull of Parkhead was just too big. It is very difficult to find that elsewhere. I am at a different stage in my career so you can’t compare me to McGregor in that respect. “I am coming towards the end and have found something that’s fantastic in terms of my career. Callum is much younger and still has a lot of his career ahead of him. “Everyone wants to play in this team. You can see that by people coming in and grabbing their opportunity. “They have to because you have to work so hard to stay in the team. Everyone is pushing each other in training. “As long as we have that group mentality I don’t see it changing any time soon.”   Celtic face Salzburg on Thursday night knowing a draw would take them through. Gordon added: “I don’t think we can play for a point. Things can change as the game progresses, depending on what we need and that could influence what happens. But we’ll be going out to win.” Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers from Scottish football plus fixtures, results and live match commentary  [bc_video video_id=”5975724284001″ account_id=”5067014667001″ player_id=”default” embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” max_width=”640px” width=”100%” height=”100%” caption=”Celtic star Dedryck Boyata shares cryptic ‘contract’ video on Instagram with defender’s future up in the air”]

In his book Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy,  Joseph Schumpeter put forth a hypothesis that a capitalist system always attracts the best minds in the world.
