Westminster Abbey was supposed to be the second book in the Kindred Spirits series, but instead, Kindred Spirits: Westminster Abbey became Book Three. The reason it was a book ‘late’ was due to pure cowardice on my part – there are a LOT of dead people in there! But once I got under its skin, […]

THE PlayStation 5 will be released some time after April 2020, Sony has revealed. We got the first official details about the next-generation PlayStation less than two weeks ago, making some think a release might be imminent. The PS4 hasn’t sold as many units as the PS2, but still has at least a year to catch up Sony put these rumours to bed when it revealed its latest set of financial results, though. The firm told investors that the new console wasn’t going to be coming out in the next 12 months after revealing record-breaking profits in gaming and across the company. Sony also revealed it has sold nearly 100 million PlayStation 4 consoles, and that its software and online revenues broke records in the 12 months to March 31 this year. Most of the game’s divisions £220million profits will be ploughed into development of the PS5, they said. Sony will be hoping The Last of Us Part 2 will boost its software profits when it eventually comes out [article-rail-section title=”MOST READ IN GAMING” posts_category=”5602″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] Sales and profits will be down a bit next year, the company predicts, as PS4 hardware sales continue to slide. They also blamed exchange rates, and predicted a decline in income from “highly profitable first-party software titles” even as they predicted overall software revenue would rise. That decline in first-party software revenue could indicate we’ve got a long wait for either The Last of Us Part 2 or Ghost of Tsushima, the two blockbusters we know Sony has in development at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch respectively. The results also show that Sony has no plans to increase the amount it spends on marketing this year compared to last year, suggesting that the PS5 launch is likely to be well into the next fiscal year given it will be preceded by a huge marketing campaign. Meanwhile, in other gaming news Overwatch is testing a free Workshop mode where players can set their own rules and effectively make entirely new games, Persona 5: The Royal has finally been revealed, and it looks like a new Nintendo Switch could be right around the corner.
