QUENTIN Tarantino has hit back at a journalist who dared to question why Margot Robbie had so few lines in his latest film, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. The controversial director has received rave reviews for the movie, which has been dubbed a ‘love letter’ to the last moments of Hollywood’s golden age. Quentin was unimpressed with the journalist’s questions at the press conference Speaking at press conference during the Cannes Film Festival, a journalist from The New York Times asked why Margot Robbie – who plays Sharon Tate – wasn’t given many lines. Quentin, 56, shot back bluntly: “I just reject your hypotheses.” Margot jumped in to defend the director, noting she felt the moments she had on screen honoured the “lightness” she had always heard Tate embodied. The 28-year-old said: “I got a lot of time to explore the character even without speaking. After firing back at the journalist he left Margot to speak about her role Quentin was asked why Margot’s character didn’t have many lines in the film [article-rail-section title=”most read in tv & showbiz” posts_category=”169″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] “I think the moments I was on screen gave a moment to honour Sharon. I think the tragedy was the loss of innocence. “To show the wonderful sides of her could be done without speaking. “Rarely do I get to spend so much time on my own as a character. That was actually an interesting thing for me to do as an actor.” Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood is set in 1969 Los Angeles and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as television star Rick Dalton, Brad Pitt as his long-time stunt double and Margot as movie star Sharon Tate. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were also at the press conference After firing back at the journalist he left Margot to answer Quentin’s attitude to women in his films has come under scrutiny before after Uma Thurman alleged he pushed her to perform a “Kill Bill” stunt that left her permanently injured. The legendary director also cast Emile Hirsch in his ninth film, who pleaded guilty to assaulting a female executive in 2015.
