I believe the only way to create change is to create an open dialogue and I DON’T DO UGLY is doing that. We have launched the #IDontDoUgly Social Media Challenge — where people all around the world have joined in. All you have to do is: make a sign stating I Don’t Do Ugly — take a selfie or have a friend snap a picture, then post it on instagram and facebook and share an ugly situation you went or are going through. Finally, tag your friends to take the challenge too. TOGETHER WE WILL NOT DO UGLY UNTO OTHERS. I had the pleasure to interview Jason Pinchoff. Jason is an entrepreneur who continues to reinvent himself and evolve. When you first meet him, you would never suspect his backstory. Jason began his professional career in advertising and content marketing. He, with Emmy-Award winning shop, HQ Creative, developed a knack for live events management, client relations, multimedia production and postproduction. Jason played a key role on campaigns for such major brands as iHeartRadio, the Walt Disney Company and The McGraw Hill Corporation. Mr. Pinchoff is a refreshing author who speaks his truth in a very unique and personal style. His goal is to serve as an example to others. Can you share a story about what brought you to this particular career path? There wasn’t one defining moment, it was a series of life lessons and emotional slaps across the face that taught me how fragile life can be. I had to grow up pretty quickly after the loss of my father, mother and my older sister all within four years left me orphaned as a teenager. It was during that time that I found my voice through poetry. Watching my father work on what seemed to my youthful eyes as a million ventures, inspired my diverse career goals and objectives. He also taught me that the art of business was showing genuine passion and excitement for each and every venture. Nearly everything I do, is inspired by my family… They serve as my strength, fueling the positive pursuit of my goals. What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now? I recently rebranded my company and am in the process of launching and pitching it to investors. The business pursuit that I am excited about is my fashion brand, A PINCH LIFE and our I DON’T DO UGLY anti-bullying campaign. The slogan honors my mom’s battle with breast cancer, while going through treatments she always expressed, “I will not let the ugliness of cancer change who I am.” I also founded a nonprofit to help bring awareness, joy, smiles and laughs to kids fighting cancer. Partnering with A PINCH LIFE we are blessed to give hats to kids during our KiDS DAY events in hospitals. The children get to paint the hats and express how they feel through art… there is a beautiful energy that comes from this act, with the hat becoming a type of security blanket for the child once they’re done. What is the one habit you believe contributed the most to you becoming a great writer? Can you share a story or example? The art of observation has always inspired me. When I sit and listen to the noise around me, or take in all the art that blanket’s New York to just getting lost and listening to people’s random chatter. It is all these creative elements that allow me to think outside myself, outside what we are taught and most importantly listening is the key to success. My father always said: “only speak when you know what you are speaking about holds value.” Can you share the most interesting story that you shared in your book? The most interesting short story is the final moments I shared with my mom. Where the crashing walls around me got super still, and the noise went as silent as a night breeze. It is my most vulnerable moment and I have kept it a secret for over 23 years. My screams, my voice and my tears all found ink to speak when I could not ask for help. What is the main empowering lesson you want your readers to take away after finishing your book? In my dreams of dreams… I hope my readers walk away realizing they are unstoppable. I want them to find a renewed point of view, a new motivation for living life and not let anyone or anything stop them from reaching their own greatness. We are all unstoppable — no matter what lessons or circumstances life hands you. Which literature do you draw inspiration from? Why? I enjoy autobiographies. There is something about real people, real stories, real life moments… moments that made the author who or what they are. Poetry is also a great source of inspiration. Poems are designed so that the reader can envision a narrative and in the same moment relate it back to something about who they are or long to be. There are no mistakes in creativity, which personally allows the reader to relate to that situation and identify with the story they are reading. Lastly, I am always picking up art books that depict the lives of an artist I respect, like Jean-Michel Basquiat or Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z. They allowed the freedom of creativity to lead them not society or social norms… How do you think your writing makes an impact in the world? My hope is that readers see themselves throughout the ups & downs and realize no matter how hard life gets… no matter how many obstacles are thrown at you… YOU ARE UNSTOPPABLE. My mission is to inspire the uninspired, awake the resting… and motivate everyone to never let anything stop you from living life! What advice would you give to someone considering becoming an author like you? DO IT. DO IT.. DO IT… Just do it for yourself. Whatever you want to write about; personal tragedy or a cookbook — do it for yourself. Once you accomplish the madness and beauty of long nights, empty bottles of wine and music softy fading into your inner thoughts… all resulting in an end product called “a book” and at that moment you are an author. For me I needed the outlet of letting my words flow. I was able to feel feelings without judgment from others… Only after it was complete and I read it, I choose to release it to the world. My biggest advice is don’t overthink — will they hate it… will they love it… either way YOU DID IT and no one can take that away from you. What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why. Definitely the value of always having something to write with. Early on, I cannot begin to recall the times I have had something on my mind and either my phone was dead or was in the subway and had no pen.The only regrets in creativity are allowing the haters to make you rethink what you did. It’s important to stand behind your ideas even when everyone can’t see what you see.Always go to that event or dinner when invited, it might have been the group of individuals that could have changed your life or you could have changed theirs.Find a rhythm that makes others question if are you human.Always be honorable and respectful… Because it’s a dirty business and some will do whatever it takes to take you out. You are your word at the end of the day!NEVER LOSE THAT REBEL INSIDE YOURSELF. Sometimes not following the rules creates the rules others will one day follow. You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂 I am actually in the middle of a movement that I launched as a way to create change. My clothing line I Don’t Do Ugly® is a bold way to strike up random conversations that everyday people tend to avoid. Brandon Jenner Music man! Brandon Jenner sat down with Us Weekly on Saturday, May 11, in Malibu to celebrate the video premiere of his single “Death of Me” and revealed what inspired his new music. “I’ve been wanting to just be able to write things from a real free-spirited place and to just write something for me and not feel like I’m seeing it through the lens of what the listener will eventually hear it as,” he explained. [ami-related id=”1507019″ url=”https://www.usmagazine.com/?p=1507019″ title=”Billboard Music Awards 2019 Red Carpet Fashion: See the Stars’ Styles” target=”_blank” inset=”false”] As for how he describes his latest hit? The 37-year-old said, “It’s kind of like emotional junk food. … It’s kind of just playful and something that is just a snippet in time about how you feel in certain moments. … It’s about feeling like you’re attracted to somebody, but you know if you pursue that person at all in any way, that your life, this life that you built for yourself, would fall apart.” [ami-related id=”1602″ url=”https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/celeb-siblings-2013107/” title=”Celebrity Siblings” target=”_blank” inset=”false”] Brandon Jenner And fans can expect Jenner to get even deeper when listening to his full solo EP Plan on Feelings, which will be available on June 14. “There’s a lot more meaning in some of the other songs. … It just took me a little while to find the sweet spot of what kind of music I wanted to make and what kind of music I wanted to perform live. While I still enjoy holding a guitar and doing the finger picking and doing the singer/songwriter thing, and that will always be a part of what I do, I am really having a good time with this new music,” he added. [ami-related id=”1471954″ url=”https://www.usmagazine.com/?p=1471954″ title=”iHeartRadio Music Awards 2019 Red Carpet: See What the Stars Wore” target=”_blank” inset=”false”] While this is his first time embarking on a solo music career since splitting from his estranged wife Leah Jenner, who he also worked with in their indie group, Brandon & Leah, he told Us that creating music on their own has been great so far. “She has the ability to make the music she wants to make, I have the ability to make the music that I want to make and we’re very supportive and very helpful with each other in so many ways, which is wonderful. … We’re really happy being able to express ourselves fully and creatively. …And it’s made us really happy and fulfilled.”
