Maybe it’s knowing that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but my mind’s been leaning toward romance lately. That includes all the weddings that are going to happen in 2019, and (most fun of all) what people will be wearing to them. And make no mistake: The bridal fashion trends (for the bride and her entire squad) this year are about as romantic as we’ve seen in a long time. Many come with forward-thinking, out-of-the box details, too — but are still always sophisticated and gorgeous. #gallery-1480948-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1480948-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1480948-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1480948-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ Bridal fashion from the Amsale collection is modeled during Bridal Fashion Week, Friday, April 13, 2018, in New York. (AP Photo/Bebeto Matthews) AP Photo 5/19/18 Prince Harry The Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle The Duchess of Sussex – man and wife – at their wedding ceremony held at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle. (Windsor, England, UK) The current designs include nods to all the most popular style genres, from classic or glam to boho and minimalist. And many of them are all aflutter — literally. With ruffles. Edwardian-inspired romantic sleeves are a dominant theme with designers such as Ines di Santo and Leanne Marshall. As are bows … big, big bows. For more perfect examples of these (plus lots of spectacular tiered skirts), look to Marchesa Bridal and Monique L’huillier. Overlapping in those above collections are a new passion for off-the-shoulder dresses, a la Meghan Markle’s. Her Givenchy confection (of course) has launched a million new designs, and some of my favorites are being made by L’huillier, Marchesa and (much less expensively) by Oleg Cassini for David’s Bridal. Then there’s minimalism. Remember Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s super-simple (but breathtaking) silk Narciso Roriguez dress? That kind of unadorned beauty is back. (Also see Markle’s similarly sleek, high-neck halter reception dress.) You’ll see those at their finest right now, made by labels like Theia and Amsale. One of freshest new ideas — pantsuits. There are plenty for brides, like the oh-so sophisticated DB Studio Crepe Wide-Leg Jumpsuit with Crystal Neckline, $189 at dillards.com. And there are also gorgeous, sweeping designs that are perfect for changing into for the reception, like Catherine Deane’s Knightley Jumpsuit, with its wide-leg pants and sweetheart neckline-cami ($450 on bhldn.com). But most pantsuits are being worn as dress alternatives by bridesmaids. And they look even better when worn (another trend worth exploring) in slightly different colors that are all in one palette — for example, lots of shades of blush, or lots of shades of violet, which look phenomenal when contrasted with the bride’s white dress. The latest craze is a bridal party sporting all kinds of funky asymmetrical hemlines. Or, on a more traditional note, check out the enthusiasm for wrap dresses and popovers (those frocks with a layer of fabric over the bodice). All of the above lend a relaxed feel to the party’s overall aesthetic. And then (mostly for brides, but a few bridemaids, too) along now comes — are you ready for this? — bridal athleisure. The trend was sort of inevitable when you think about just how many formal events see us wearing spiffed up, sleek and sequined yoga pants. So now this year we have bridal tracksuits like those from Theia and Gracy Accad. Hey, at least you’ll already be in a relaxed outfit for the after party, right?

Pearls made their presence known again in 2018 with many brides opting for pearl wedding dress embellishments and jewelery as opposed to something more sparkly. Pearls speak to a softer, more intimate side of women and bring an air of understated elegance and grace to a wedding gown.  In this post we share some […]

Just over a month after she tied the knot with Wheelers Dealers host Ant Anstead, Christina El Moussa shared new, never-before-seen wedding pictures — and, spoiler alert, they’re totally dreamy. On Thursday, El Moussa took to Instagram to share a few special snapshots from their winter wonderland-themed December nuptials in Newport Beach, California. “12.22.18 such an amazing, emotional, incredible day for us and our 4 kids. Getting married at our home under the full moon couldn’t have been more magical. Love you @ant_anstead and our blended family… love doing this life with you. #act2,” El Moussa captioned the slideshow of photos, crediting photographer Rich Lander for the shots. In the first photo El Moussa, looking stunning in her sweeping Ines Di Santo lace gown, kisses her new husband in front of a vintage white car with the words “Just Married” across the windshield. A few photos from the gorgeous reception made the cut, as did more sweet moments between El Moussa and Anstead. El Moussa even shared a photo of the nuptial kiss that made their marriage official! Lander, who photographed the ceremony and reception, also shared one of the photos El Moussa revealed. In the touching peek, El Moussa and Anstead sit facing each other in white wicker outdoor chair swings, leaning in to touch foreheads as they hold hands. In another post with more photos of the couple’s kids in the mix, Anstead wrote, “So incredibly PROUD of my amazing kiddos. They really are my best friends! I was beaming all day! Both Amelie and Archie were my ‘Best men/woman’ and they delivered one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard! Put the pros to shame! Crazy AF!!! But the right blend of crazy!!! “Never grow up… it’s a trap”! 🤪❤️❤️😜 x A post shared by ant anstead (@ant_anstead) on Jan 25, 2019 at 8:38am PST The couple, who began dating just over a year prior to saying “I do,” certainly seems to be well on their way to happily ever after. But they previously admitted to People that there were times they weren’t convinced they were going to pull off the ceremony in secret, as they ultimately did. “Every day we were checking the internet to see if anyone found out,” El Moussa admitted. “Then the day we went to get our marriage license, the guy working was like hyperventilating, excited. We had to tell him this is a huge secret. No one knows.” Fortunately, though, all went off without a hitch. “It was just perfect for us. Everything we wanted.”
