Celtic have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien. The centre-back has attracted interest from Spain, England and Germany, but the Scottish Premiership club appear to have won the race for his signature. Celtic are on the verge of signing Christopher Jullien L’Equipe report that the 26-year-old has held extensive discussions with the Hoops and is expected to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours. The Daily Record claim a deal for Jullien has been struck between the two clubs worth up to £8million. Neil Lennon has been in Paris to try and complete the deal for the former France youth international, with Jullien in line to become Celtic’s first signing of the summer. The defender has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League and reportedly wanted to join former team-mate Issa Diop, who plays for West Ham, in England’s top flight. In May, he said: “I saw him (Diop) again recently. He spoke to me about a lot of things, like his adventure, how things were over there. We know the Premier League is a super impressive league. “He’s convinced I’ll be joining him there soon but, as I said, I’m still at Toulouse and we’ll see about the future.” That move to the Premier League is on hold for now, however, as it looks like Jullien will be playing in the Scottish Premiership next season.

There was yet more VAR controversy at the Women’s World Cup in France on Wednesday evening. England faced off against Japan in Nice, with a win for either side securing top spot in Group D. While in Paris, Scotland knew they had to win to keep their faint chances of progressing to the round of 16 alive against Argentina. Ellen White celebrates after her double for England Japan 0-2 England Having survived a scare when Bardsley pulled off a superb save to touch Kumi Yokoyama’s free-kick against the bar, England took the lead in the 14th minute as Ellen White scored her second goal of the tournament. Georgia Stanway showed good strength as she turned and played a through-ball to White, who lifted an effort beyond goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita. The score was 1-0 as the teams went in at the break, with Yamashita having made three fine stops to prevent England from extending their advantage. The goalkeeper did well to deny Scott and Stanway in quick succession soon after White’s goal, then impressed again as she kept out an effort from Daly. The England players celebrate after getting all three points The Lionesses went close to a second goal as another good save by Yamashita saw her push away Toni Duggan’s volley from a cross by Lucy Bronze. But England were indebted to a great tackle by Houghton in the area to thwart Yuika Sugasawa. And White made the game safe with her second six minutes before the end of normal time after being played through by Karen Carney. The Manchester City striker showed tremendous composure to calmly slot the ball past Yamashita once again. Phil Neville’s side will find out who they face later this week Phil Neville’s England will now face a third-placed finisher in the next round – either China (Group B), or Cameroon or New Zealand (Group E), or Chile or Thailand (Group F). Their opponents will be determined on Thursday when Groups E and F conclude, and the match will take place on Sunday in Valenciennes. Scotland 3-3 Argentina Shelley Kerr could not believe what was happening in Paris [bc_video video_id=”6050356317001″ account_id=”6023583704001″ player_id=”default” embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” max_width=”640px” width=”100%” height=”100%” caption=”Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy give their verdict on VAR after Scotland’s exit from Women’s World Cup “] Scotland are out of the Women’s World Cup after a twice-taken added time penalty gave Argentina a dramatic draw. The Scots needed to win and Kim Little turned in their opener before Jen Beattie and Erin Cuthbert netted from corners after the break. Milagros Menendez then Florencia Bonsegundo replied for Argentina. And a VAR-awarded spot-kick taken by Bonsegundo was saved by Alexander but she was off her line and the Argentina forward converted second time round. Erin Cuthbert was inconsolable at full-time at the Parc des Princes Shelley Kerr’s side were on course to be one of the four best third-placed sides going into Thursday’s final fixtures in Groups E and F with 16 minutes to play but Argentina’s dramatic recovery consigned the Scots to bottom place in Group D. But Scotland captain Rachel Corsie was unhappy that referee Hyang-Ok Ri allowed play to continue as substitute Fiona Brown was coming on as a substitute.

The criticism Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford received for their ‘beans, beans, beans’ video was one of the more bizarre pieces of sports news from last weekend. If you’re not up to speed with what happened, well basically, as the Manchester United pair prepared for a night out while on holiday in Miami Lingard started filming himself chanting the word ‘beans’ repeatedly. Lingard and Rashford took a lot of flak for this clip Team-mate Rashford joined in with the presumably made up on the spot song before Lingard started beatboxing. You can see the clip above. The video was uploaded on Lingard’s Instagram page but it was not well received by the Old Trafford faithful in the slightest. Some United fans took to Twitter to voice their outrage at Lingard and Rashford larking around with their main grievance being that they were in buoyant mood despite the club’s unsuccessful 2018/19 campaign. [article-rail-section title=”LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS” posts_category=”221″ posts_number=”8″ query_type=”recent” /] However, not every United supporter had reservations for the video. talkSPORT presenter and United fan Andy Goldstein, alongside fellow Sports Bar host Jason Cundy, decided to re-create the memorable clip. Below you can see the hilarious version of ‘beans, beans, beans’ done by our very own Andy and Jason! 🎶 Beans, beans, beans 🎶@MarcusRashford + @JesseLingard have got anything on our duo of @AndyGoldstein05 + @JasonCundy05 😂😂😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/6JAQsgpn8U — talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) June 17, 2019
