Tizzie's Tidbits of Truth

Though we often try to follow the example of “good” Bible characters, such as Joseph, Daniel, and Paul, we must first and foremost follow Christ’s example. Even “good” Bible characters sinned against God…and so do we.

Jonah's Daily Rants

In case you can’t tell by the title alone, let me clarify. Bullywugs are one of the most brain-dead monsters I’ve talked about up to this point. So much so that I can’t even make a witty or clever joke for the title. With a Bullywug, what you see is what you get. They are […]

The Mercury News
[dfm_iframe src=”https://apps.mercurynews.com/newsletters-signup/?campaign=giants-hq” width=”100%” height=”220px” allowfullscreen=”yes” scrolling=”yes” /] The Giants may have the worst Double-A team in all of minor league baseball, but the Richmond (Va.) Flying Squirrels don’t go down without at least a semblance of a fight. Monday night, both third base prospect Jonah Arenado and manager Willie Harris were ejected after a display of histrionics that would have made Billy Martin proud. There was nothing minor league about the way both Arenado and Harris reacted to being thrown out of a 2-0 home loss to the first-place Bowie Baysox (Orioles). [dfm_iframe src=”https://www.milb.com/video/share/arenado-and-harris-ejected/c-31000004421?tid=18601616″ width=”100%” height=”400px” allowfullscreen=”yes” scrolling=”yes” /] Arenado, the 24-year-old younger brother of Rockies All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado, barked at the base umpire in the seventh inning after a hit Bowie batter forced in the game’s first run. The umpire tossed him out of the game for his protest. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Arenado, who had apparently been voicing his displeasure to the umpires throughout the game, unleashed a stream of obscenties toward both umps as he walked off the field. However, the show really began when Harris, a 12-year major leaguer with a history of arguing with umpires in the Eastern League, barged out to confront the base umpire. He flipped his batting helmet around to get in the ump’s face while gesticulating wildly. [related_articles location=”left” show_article_date=”false” article_type=”automatic-primary-section”] Harris, who was thrown out a league-leading eight times two years ago, turned and stomped back to the dugout while fuming. Harris saved his best for last as he fired a bucket full of baseballs onto the field before disappearing into the clubhouse. Harris’ outburst makes it easy for us to understand why the former infielder for seven major league teams said Bobby Cox was his favorite manager he’s ever played for. Yes, the same Bobby Cox who holds the MLB record for most times ejected from a game (161).
