THERE are a plethora of pushchairs for new parents to choose from, from designer brands to cheap-and-cheerful buggies. Whether you need a pushchair that’s super lightweight to use on public transport or one that’s equipped for jogging, there’s a one out there to suit your requirements. We’ve rounded up the best pushchairs from your favourite brands like iCandy and Bugaboo We’ve rounded up the best pushchairs based on our own favourites and the top-rated pushchairs according to other parents. From prams with a separate carrycot for newborns to travel systems that come with click-in car seats, to ultra-lightweight strollers and all-terrain running buggies, the first decision to make is what kind of pushchair would suit your family best. For some, the answer is two pushchairs: a sturdy, from-birth option and a compact design that can be thrown in the car boot or taken on holiday. It’s also worth considering how important certain features are: some pushchairs, like the Britax B-Ready, can grow with your family, easily accommodating a second seat for another baby, which is very useful if you are expecting your second child or planning to have a small gap between kids. Other pushchairs can do double duty: the beloved UPPAbaby Vista, for example, has a bassinet that’s approved for overnight sleeping, which many parents use as a Moses basket for baby’s naps and sleep in the early days (it can also help to justify the nearly £1k price tag). The top things to look for when selecting a pushchair? For most parents, it comes down to style, functionality and cost. Also on the list? Having a pushchair with a seat that can face towards or away from them, that comes equipped with a newborn carrycot or can be reclined completely flat for baby’s naps and is easy to push down the street and fold up when needed. After all, once you have a baby, your pushchair becomes the one accessory you never leave the house without. 1. Best pushchair for city life Bugaboo Bee 5, £749 at Natural Baby Shower – buy here The multi-award winning compact and beautifully designed Bugaboo Bee 5 ticks every box. It’s customisable, comes in a range of colours and prints, and is brilliant for going out and about. Push it onto the bus or Tube, glide it into the restaurant, stroll with it to the shops. It’s a pleasure to push (and can be done one-handed) with its slimline frame, and you don’t feel like you’re taking over the pavement with your pushchair. A one-piece fold makes it easy to store or take on transport, and it grows with your child, converting from carrycot to chassis with ease, and has an independently extendable seat backrest and seat base. You can really personalise the newest Bee to your specifications and requirements, adding changeable grips and wheel caps and attachment points to slot in accessories like cup holders. 2. Best birth-and-beyond pushchair UPPAbaby VISTA, £859.95 at The Baby Room – buy here The UPPAbaby Vista gets rave reviews from buggy-obsessed parents because it really is best in class. It includes a carrycot that newborns can use as a bassinet to sleep in when not attached to the pushchair as well as convertible seating options which grow as your family does Yes, this is an investment pushchair, but it will go the long haul from newborn to more than one baby since it has the potential to transform into a double buggy with a multitude of configurations. It can also handle any terrain and – big bonus – can be folded with the toddler seat attached. 3. Best travel system pushchair Maxi Cosi Adorra, £549 at Kiddies Kingdom – buy here Maxi-Cosi’s Adorra travel system includes an all-rounder pushchair, newborn carrycot and top-rated Maxi-Cosi Group 0+ car seat, to save you the hassle of finding each bit separately. The Adorra is a good pushchair in its own right: it has a roomy shopping basket, padded seat for your child’s comfort, stylish design and flexibility when it comes to seating, with recline positions that face forwards and backwards. 4. Best lust-worthy pushchair iCandy Peach Classic, £679.95 at iCandy – buy here The pushchair will set you back £1k, or you can opt for a slightly older iCandy model (this pushchair is an iCandy 4) to save a few hundred quid and still get the benefits of the buggy. This pushchair, with a 2-in-1 carrycot/seat, is known for its impeccable quality and innovative design. It’s convertible from a single to a double and offers an incredibly smooth ride and great functionality, like a one-push button for the straps and easy push-handle fold. 5. Best umbrella-fold pushchair Silver Cross Pop, £185 at Silver Cross – buy here The Silver Cross Pop is a top-rated pushchair with an easily collapsible umbrella fold, that looks great and performs well for everyday strolls. The lightweight design is ideal for swanning around city centres, and you get a lot of bang for your buck with a 25kg toddler capacity. Parents like that it’s easily manoeuvrable, has a roomy shopping basket and is fitted with a large, extendable hood with a zip and UPF 50+ maximum sun protection. 6. Best mid-range pushchair Joolz Hub Earth pushchair, £549 at John Lewis – buy here The Joolz Hub pushchair, designed with urban parents in mind, wins in the style stakes. It features a range of attractive features like a handy carry strap and compact fold, reversible seat (which can go into six different positions, including a lie-flat one) and an expansive, extendable sun hood with UPF 50+ protection. Parents like how this pushchair “glides like a dream” and the fact it’s “smooth, intuitive, easy and compact.” 7. Best running pushchair Thule Urban Glide 2, £447.95 at All Mama’s Children – buy here Parents don’t have to give up their favourite activities – like all-terrain treks, jogs or runs – when the baby comes along. Thule’s Urban Glide 2 three-wheeler allows you to attach a bassinet so it can be used from birth as your main stroller (although don’t start jogging with baby until your little one is at least six months old). This jogging pushchair is designed for any and every terrain (sand, hills, city streets), has a spacious storage basket and a large canopy to protect your snoozing baby. Parents love the smooth ride on this stroller, courtesy of the robust 16″ back wheels, swivel front wheel and suspension, while an integrated twist handbrake gives parents good control when jogging over bumpy terrain. The padded harness keeps baby safely in place, while the reflective strips add an extra layer of visibility on night jogs. It’s also travel system compatible and folds down easily. 8. Best convertible pushchair Britax B-READY Pushchair, £279.99 at Amazon – buy here This well-priced, ultra-flexible pushchair can adapt as your family does: it can change from a single pushchair to suit twins or siblings. The seat can adjust to be forward or rear-facing, converts easily to a travel system and can be used for newborns with the carrycot (sold separately). Parents say it really shines when used as a double buggy in urban environments.
