tracy konane

I’m standing in my client’s apartment feeling mildly appalled. There is a murky stench in the air — a sweet yet sick smell that reminded me of the garbage bins behind the cafeteria in elementary school. The kitchen is very…full. Dishes are piled high on both sides of the sink. The trash is overflowing. Empty […]

On This Date in Photography

December 10: Necessity, they say, is the Mother of Invention. But sometimes it is engendered by a question, and sometimes it springs from mere fantasy. One day in 1943, the story goes, Edwin went out for a walk with his 3-year-old daughter, Jennifer, carrying his Rolleiflex and taking pictures of her. At the fireplace in […]

Getting 2 Know You - China

Personal Note: I have no interest in Rice anymore after I found out I have diabetes…Rice is bad for someone who has diabetes! I noticed that the Japanese have a small portion of rice in almost every meal…I saw something new in China after 7 years there as a visiting professor: In China, some restaurants, […]

Life Hacks

I have a kidnapped character who is kept in a shed in the middle of nowhere with basic first aid and kitchen items around. Although she is trained to kill, she has suffered injuries and is unable to overpower her captor. Initially, I had intended to have her make up a batch of TATP (acetone, […]

This post is part of our High-tech High series, which explores weed innovations, and our cultural relationship with cannabis, as legalization in several U.S. states, Canada, and Uruguay moves the market further out of the shadows. It’s 2018, and marijuana vape pens are so common in California they may as well be on the state […]

Laugh at my pain, or learn from it

I think my problem was that I didn’t know I was attractive until after college. I knew regardless of this, I had a pussy and that’s all that matters. But I never saw myself as pretty until I became Diamond. When I was a kid, I was bullied more than average. Ever had […]

(CNN) — Leo Morris served in the Air Force. Karen Carter patrolled with the Coast Guard. Henry Owens enlisted in the Navy. These veterans all served their country. Last week, the child won the “world’s first dangerous disease” – a cold, he stayed in bed for two and a half days, the third day of the afternoon trembled holding a bowl in the kitchen: “Is there a chicken soup, come to a bowl.” Chicken soup is not, the soul chicken soup is ready […]

Crowence Game Design

I began the week on Monday morning by spending more time working on the book proposal for Writing to Publication. When the session itself began in the afternoon, there weren’t many of us there (as no new content was planned to be covered), and after giving us a farewell speech and recapping the different things we’d covered throughout the semester, Calum gave me some feedback for what I’d done, telling me what needed changing. After that session, I found that my mind simply wasn’t set on work, and struggled to get much done. I briefly tried tampering with the mechanical prototype I’d made to represent synchronisation, thinking of how to tackle Adam’s request to prevent the player’s bar from snapping between the top and bottom positions when turning the stick, but I wasn’t able to get very far with it. With my mind remaining elsewhere, I also struggled to get anything done in the evening.
