SELVAN SIGHTS

A Ultra High net worth individual may be driving a broken down car or wearing simple clothes. Where as a poor Man may act rich by wearing a $6000 Suit and may be driving a Lamborghini. So in life, what we see is not what we see. Looks are deceptive and we should never judge a book by its cover. The cover may look ugly, unattractive and dusty. But if we need to looks for gems, this is the place to look into. Inside we will find real treasure that has been ruffled up by past experiences, polished by being abused and skills honed in by external forces. This is how a real diamond is formed too deep inside the Earth under tremendous heat, stress and pressure. WE too can be polished to a shine and get the highest quality rating of VVS2 . To accomplish this in real life, we need to learn, get beaten down, rejected repeatedly, thrown out, kicked, and spit on. What does this do to us? It make us stronger and tougher like the diamond. We will be able to withstand anything that life throws at us. From our past experiences we have learned to face adversities and face people from all walks of life and do what we need to do in order to overcome all hurdles and obstacles that come our way. We will fight to the finish, by doing what ever it takes. In that entire process we will never give up. We will only stop once we have accomplished what we had set out to do in the first place. This in turn will give us the satisfaction of inner happiness and personal accomplishment. No other feeling in this World can beat this. Because we had stood on our own two feet and taken ourselves from concept to design to test to the finish line, all with our own efforts. This feeling is sweet.

THE Audi A1 is back with a fresh new look for 2019. And rather than just a minor nip and tuck, the new model looks mean. SNAKE BITE: The Python yellow paint looks great but will set you back €774.84 Gone are the curves of the previous gen in favour of angles and a low, sporty stance. In fact look closely at the front bonnet and you will see three slits that sit below the bonnet. This might just look like a design feature but it’s a nod to the iconic Sports Quattro rally car of the 80s. But we all know, underneath the A1 is Volkswagen Polo and that’s no bad thing as the Polo has been the base for a multiple winning World Rally Championship car. And the Polo GTI is a blast, plus the Audi S1 is also a World Rallycross winner as well. But Audi are a premium brand so the little, five-door, A1 is like a mini A3 and makes the perfect car for those wanting to down size from a bigger family car. BIGGER AND BETTER: A1 has grown by 5.6cm and the boot is 65-litres larger This latest gen A1 has grown by 5.6cm so more passenger space and the boot is 65-litres larger, now 355-litres with the rear seats up and 1,090-litres down. There’s three trim levels, Attraction, SE that I was driving and the sporty S-Line that you see above. But that premium Audi badge comes at a price as the range starts at €24,650, my SE starts at €26,550 but with €8,775 worth of extras the total is €35,325 but that doesn’t even include a reversing camera. That would buy you the ballistic Fiesta ST or two entry level Fiestas as they start at €15,377. SPORTY SPICE: Three trim levels, Attraction, SE and theS-Line that you see here Or if you opted for the S-Line with a few mods the price can tip over the €40,000 mark. Don’t get me wrong, the A1 is a little gem, inside you get all that wonderfully easy to use, modern tech that Audi are so good at and the dash is covered in metallic honeycomb and would not look out of place in a Lamborghini. Audi’s Virtual cockpit is a nice piece of kit but an extra €214, the MMI Navigation plus system is €2,128 and to keep your rear end toasty warm all year round via heated seats will burn a €427 hole in your pocket. ONE LITRE WONDER: Audi’s little three cylinder 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine packs a punch and can return nearly 54mpg [boxout headline=”KEY FACTS:”]Audi A1 Sportback Cost: From €24,650 Engine: 1.0-litre TFSI turbo petrol Power: 116bhp Torque: 200Nm 0-100kph: 9.5seconds Top Speed: 203kph Economy: 58.9mpg Real world: 53.9mpg Emissions: 119g/km of CO2 Rivals: Ford Fiesta, Opel Corsa, VW Polo, Skoda Fabia, SEAT Ibiza [/boxout] Under the bonnet was a three-cylinder, 1.0-litre turbo charged petrol engine that produces 116bhp with 200Nm of torque. It’s brilliant, nippy performance, 0-100kph takes 9.5secs with a 203kph top speed but it can return diesel like fuel economy with me averaging 53.9mpg. There’s also a more powerful 1.5-litre version if you want some more bang for your buck and as well as a six-speed manual you can opt for Audi’s brilliant 7-speed DSG auto gearbox. Handling is superb, with immense levels of grip and as this wasn’t the sportier, stiffer S-Line it dealt with the ruff and tumble you come to expect from the worst of our roads. It’s a fabulous little car with a cracking engine, but it’s also a pretty penny. TECH A BOW: A1 features the same tech you find up the Audi range and includes a 8.8” touchscreen infotainment plus a virtual 10.25” cockpit behind the steering wheel
