Widely regarded as the second biggest tournament in the organisation, after the World Championship, the Matchplay has only been won by eight players since its inception in 1994. Three of those previous winners will be back at the Winter Gardens this year trying to get their hands on the trophy again – Michael van Gerwen, James Wade and defending champion Gary Anderson. 29 of the 32 entrants have already booked their place at the Matchplay, but three spots are still available, with this weekend’s Czech Darts Open the final chance to qualify. When is the 2019 World Matchplay? The tournament runs from Saturday 20 July to Sunday 28 July at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. What TV channel is the World Matchplay being shown on? Sky Sports will be showing all the action live, with subscribers able to stream it on Sky Go or the Sky Sports app. What is the World Matchplay prize money?
