The Musings of Mara

Wow it has been quite a while since I was able to sit down and write out a blog post. I actually can’t even tell you the last time I wrote a blog post. So much has happened since whenever that was. Actually…not really. Law school basically took over my life, which is why I […]

Well if you google it, we are apparently officially known as ‘lifestyle gurus’ or ‘personal-growth gurus’ and were made popular back in the 90’s by people like Madonna. Nonetheless, we’re a thing. And we are all about helping you to be happier by making/encouraging changes to your lifestyle. We are trained (well, some aren’t but […]

Prediabetes is not pre anything!   It is a deadly disease driving our biggest killers:  heart attacks, strokes, dementia, and cancer.   2/3 of all patients admitted to ER with heart attacks had prediabetes or undiagnosed diabetes (Jessani, Int. J. Clin Practice 2007).    People feel “relieved” when they are diagnosed with prediabetes, but shouldn’t be!  Did […]

Many healthy eating experts recommend going through your kitchen, and getting rid of all the enticing, bad-for-you foods. Luckily, having just moved, and being a single male who doesn’t often go to the grocery store, my fridge and my cupboards were already barren. I figured that Whole Foods was the place most likely to have […]

#anothermummydietblog

So here I am yet again embarking on another dieting adventure. It sounds good when you put it like that doesn’t it, “an adventure”, it makes it sound like something fun is about to happen but who am I bloody kidding… I’ve been here before (many times), I know the drill. Its not going to […]

https://edition-m.cnn.com/2019/06/05/health/microplastic-particle-ingestion-study/index.html?r=http%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook. Every day we are ingesting tiny, often microscopic pieces of plastic — “microplastics” — with our food, beverages and with the very air we breath. Research shows some particles are small enough to enter our tissues, where they can trigger an immune reaction, or release toxic substances and pollutants absorbed from the environment, including heavy […]

Martians Attack!

I’m currently watching American Ninja Warrior and something hit me that has been bothering me for a very long time but I didn’t know what it was until just now. Before certain competitors, the show shows a video of the person and gives their story or their background. Instead of us seeing them working out […]

So last week I attended my convocation at Western University and it weirdly made me feel all types of ways. Reflecting back on my four years of university, I can confidently say that I’m definitely a different person from who I was when I entered Saugeen-Maitland Hall. If you told first year me that I […]

THE famous “Dulux” dog breed is at risk of becoming extinct in Britain. Just 98 Old English Sheepdog puppies have been registered with the Kennel Club this year. The Old English Sheepdog made famous by the Dulux paint adverts could face extinction in the UK That is a 67 per cent slump compared with 20 years ago, when the breed was regularly seen in the paint firm ads. The Club — which has been logging pedigree dogs since 1873 — will class it as “vulnerable” if the decline continues. A spokesman for the Kennel Club said “There has been a steady decline in the popularity of the breed over the years and in 2018 it recorded its lowest number of registrations ever with just 384 puppies registered. “By contrast, more exotic and fashionable breeds such as the Alaskan Malamute – a breed with a wolf-like appearance similar to ‘Ghost’, the dire wolf in the popular TV series Game of Thrones – have seen an increase this quarter. Secretary Caroline Kisko said: “It’s one of our most iconic dog breeds but you rarely see one in our streets and parks any more.” “We would expect the numbers to have declined over the years as a result of lifestyle changes – it is a breed with a good temperament that can make a lovely family pet but it also needs a lot of grooming and exercise and so is not suitable for the fast-paced urban lifestyles of many people.
