Despite the stereotype surrounding Baltimore youth, we have to acknowledge the many obstacles in front of them. These struggles have lasted their lifetime, ultimately leading to health outcomes that are much, much different than the wealthier and whiter areas in Baltimore.

A GRIEVING mum has issued a chilling warning to parents after her one-year-old daughter was strangled in her sleep by a baby monitor. Danielle Duggan said she is “living through hell” after her daughter Jessica Lacey died when the lead of her £150 Motorola camera monitor got caught around her neck. Danielle and Jason Duggan lost their baby daughter Jessica after she was strangled by baby monitor chord Jessica was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead Today, after an inquest was held into the youngster’s death, care manager Danielle, 31, and husband Jason, 30, spoke out to warn other parents. After Jessica was put in her cot for a nap in the afternoon, Mr Duggan noticed that the camera had moved position. He went into Jessica’s room at around 4.30pm to discover that she had managed to get hold of the wire connected to the baby monitor, which ran down the back of the wall behind the shelf. Jessica, their only child, was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where she was confirmed dead. The couple today spoke of their grief, and said there was no support offered to them after Jessica died. They said: “There is also no support for anyone who has lost a child.
We are living through this hell but there is no after care
“You get a free councillor if you have miscarried, your baby was still born or you lost a child through cancer but we got nothing. “We are living through this hell but there is no after care and we really want to raise awareness about that.” The couple, of Shipham, Norfolk, want to raise awareness about the accident as they would have wanted to be made aware about the dangers. Speaking after the inquest today, Mrs Duggan said: “We had £150 worth of equipment. It was all tucked behind the shelf. We don’t know how she managed to reach it. “Jessica slept in that bed for over a year. She had three or four naps a day and slept for 12 hours a night. She was a really good baby in that respect. TRAGIC ACCIDENT “We really want to raise awareness about the air ambulance and the NICU unit. “They don’t get enough credit and when she was born they provided us with all her clothes and nappies because we didn’t have anything for her – and now those things are memories for us.” Mrs Duggan said they bought the baby monitor to keep their daughter safe and Jessica shouldn’t have been able to reach the wires. She said; “I would urge that parents are really careful when setting up their monitors. “A few years ago people were worried about blinds near cots, but we never had that.” The grieving mother said the incident has already prompted a police officer who attended the scene to change the wires in his house as he had a similar set up.
I would urge that parents are really careful when setting up their monitors.
The couple are still unsure as to how Jessica managed to reach the wire and why the camera didn’t disconnect when she pulled it. A statement read out in court on behalf of PC Matthew Hill, who attended the scene, said there “was nothing to suggest this was something other than a tragic accident”. The statement continued to say that the parents “thought they were doing the right thing by having a monitor in the bedroom”. [article-rail-section title=”MOST READ IN NEWS” posts_category=”2″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] Area Coroner Yvonne Blake concluded that the death was caused by compression of the neck by ligature. Since October, the couple have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the air ambulance that tried to save their daughter. They wrote: “The air ambulance service is all run by charity and due to the amazing care they gave our daughter, we would like to raise money for them in the hope that the money will help others when needed.” The parents say they were offered no support when Jessica died   The couple want to raise awareness about the accident as they would have wanted to be made aware about the dangers The couple are still unsure as to how Jessica managed to reach the wire Jessica had been down for an afternoon nap in her cot when the tragic accident happened [bc_video video_id=”6013430256001″ account_id=”5067014667001″ player_id=”default” embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” max_width=”640px” width=”100%” height=”100%” caption=”Lacey Turner reveals heartbreak at losing two babies before finally getting pregnant on This Morning”] We pay for your stories!
