The New York Stock Exchange did nothing. Absolutely jack-bull-na-na nothing. I was all set to trade with my finger on the mouse button. My eyes were glued to the DOM and when 9:30 hit, my concentration was like that of an F-15 pilot ready to strike at a moment’s notice against a foreign adversary with […]

NORWEGIAN Air has said it is to resume transatlantic flights from Ireland to the US with a fleet of replacement jets following its suspension of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets. The suspension came after a jet crashed down in Ethiopia earlier this month just minutes after take off from Addis Ababa. Norwegian Air has will use a fleet of replacement jets for passengers scheduled to travel from Ireland the East Coast of the US The Nairobi-bound Ethiopian Airlines flight – carrying 149 passengers from 33 countries and eight crew members – came down just minutes after departing Addis Ababa on March 10. Following the horror crash, Norwegian Air – who fly to US from Dublin, Cork and Shannon – announced on Tuesday it would suspend operations of the Boeing 737 MAX jets until further notice. Now the airline has announced that in addition to its routes between Dublin-New York and Boston being facilitated by the carrier’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner, it will also operate some of its Cork and Shannon routes through Dublin Airport. The airline said it has ensured passengers can continue with their travel plans with minimal disruption and has re-routed and offered re-booking or refunds to passengers if they no longer wish to travel. The carrier said that from March 31 until April 10, it is combining flights and reallocating aircrafts within its own network to “keep cancellations to a minimum”. Between these dates, the low cost carrier said passengers scheduled to travel on the Cork-Providence and Shannon-New York Stewart and Providence routes have been transferred to flights from Dublin. In a statement this afternoon, Norwegian Air said: “Norwegian has temporarily deployed a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to operate daily flights between Dublin Airport and New York (Stewart). “The service combines the Dublin to New York and Providence flights and bus transportation has been arranged for passengers travelling onward to Providence.” A bus service will be running from Shannon and Cork Airports to Dublin Airports for booked passengers to make their onward flights. The airline also announced that the ETOPS-certified 737-800 operate from Dublin to Hamilton Toronto four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. [article-rail-section title=”READ MORE IN NEWS ” posts_category=”5″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] The aircraft will also be used on flights between Dublin and Providence on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Previously, Cork Airport managing director, Niall McCarthy, told the Independent: “We are very confident you will see Norwegian back operating transatlantic services from Cork for this summer. “As soon as they confirm the aircraft, it will all be finalised. We are only waiting on final confirmation of the aircraft (type) but we are expecting services by Norwegian to Boston, starting from mid April.”
