Planets and moons line up and “touch” in the night sky during astronomical events called conjunctions. When the moon eclipsed Saturn in March, South African astrophotographer Grant Petersen was ready. Petersen used his telescope, a smartphone, and some careful planning to record stunning photographs of the Saturn-moon conjunction. Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories. […]

Boxing has become a sport where the best simply do not fight the best either at all, or when they’re at their best. One could argue that places like the UFC find it much easier to pit their top names against each other at their peaks; take Jon Jones against Daniel Cormier or Khabib Nurmagomedov facing Conor McGregor last year, for example. Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua For boxing, though, the various governing bodies, promoters and TV deals have made it a true minefield where business suffocates the sport. As a result, Floyd Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao five years too late. Amir Khan seems like he might finally fight Kell Brook – but also five years too late. Anthony Joshua is yet to face Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder despite sitting on top of the division with the WBO, WBA (super), IBO and IBF belts in his collection. With the recent boom in British boxing over the last five years to a decade, wouldn’t it be great if some of these fights could come into existence – on a day when its been announced Joe Joyce will face Daniel Dubois – and dream fights were possible? We take a look at the dream matchups that could earn a place on a UK mega-card – in a perfect world. Amir Khan vs Kell Brook This one is a bit up for debate. It might be a good fight because it is two guys in the winter of their careers trying to prove one last point, but there is no doubt that it is probably a good four or five years past its sell-by date. Kell Brook and Amir Khan are two former world champions Charlie Edwards vs Kal Yafai Kal Yafai has a pristine record of 25-0 and is the WBA super-flyweight champion. Charlie Edwards is 16-1 and is the WBC flyweight champion having just comprehensively defeated Angel Moreno last time out. Two world champions battling domestically sells itself. Carl Frampton vs Josh Warrington This is a rematch plenty of boxing fans would want to see. The Jackal was The Ring magazine, the Boxing Writers Association of America, and ESPN’s Fighter of the Year in 2016 and making headway on several pound-for-pound lists. A loss to Leo Santa Cruz and then to 28-0 IBF featherweight champion Warrington has put him on the comeback path – can he reclaim his place? Josh Warrington and Carl Frampton waged 12 rounds of war last year Anthony Crolla vs Luke Campbell Two men to have suffered defeat in world title fights to Jorge Linares, but one is a former world champion at lightweight and the other is an Olympic gold medallist. Campbell is the WBC lightweight mandatory challenger and Crolla is coming off a painful loss to arguably the greatest fighter on the planet, Vasyl Lomachenko. Could Crolla get to the top of the mountain one more time or is it Campbell’s time? Jack Catterall vs Josh Taylor Jack Catterall is a smart super lightweight with a record of 23-0 who looks primed to enter the world title scene. Josh Kelly is the IBF super-lightweight champion with a record of 14-0 and he tasted Commonwealth gold as an amateur. He is able to move up to welterweight with ease and the Tartan Tornado has finished 12 of his 14 wins via KO. Catterall presents, arguably, his sternest test domestically. [article-rail-section title=”LATEST BOXING NEWS” posts_category=”217″ posts_number=”10″ query_type=”recent” /] Billy Joe Saunders vs Callum Smith Let me start this fight by stating I’d love to see Saunders vs Chris Eubank Jr once again, especially five years on from their last meeting. BJS is 27-0 and a former WBO middleweight champion, a title he never lost. He’s fighting for WBO’s super middleweight title next against Shefat Isufi, but Callum Smith is a big, powerful fighter who won the WBA super middleweight title from George Groves last year. A domestic unification fight could be very special and slightly eclipses the BJS/Eubank Jr rivalry. Anthony Yarde vs Joshua Buatsi This fight is a no-brainer. Two of the best young light heavyweights in the wÁorld who seem completely different. Buatsi is an Olympic bronze medallist who most fans would agree is a phenomenal technician. Yarde looks a million bucks and he has the power to back it up. At 18-0 with 17 KOs, Yarde finds himself on the cusp of a world title opportunity with Sergey Kovalev, and yet, plenty of fans believe Buatsi is the superior fighter. Only one way to find out… Anthony Yarde’s team have admitted to turning down title shots for him before, owing to his limited amateur experience Daniel Dubois vs Dillian Whyte In the summer of 2020, this could be a fantastic fight. if it was tomorrow, who knows. Dubois is a 6-foot-5 monster who at just 21-years-old has a record of 10-0 with nine knockouts. He’s going to be a big player in the heavyweight division, but first he has a British title fight with fellow exciting prospect Joe Joyce. As for Dillian Whyte, he’s more than proven he is a world title level fighter at this point. He has shown he will take on anybody, there is no fight he won’t take and his sole loss is to Anthony Joshua. He’s earning great respect in the sport because of his warrior ethos and he may well have a world title by next summer. Whether he does or not, being Dubois’ final roadblock before the world title stage would be a fantastic watch. Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury Come on, you don’t need me to sell this to you! Undefeated Tyson Fury taking on the undefeated Anthony Joshua for the IBF, IBO, WBA (super), WBO heavyweight titles – three of which Fury once had and had to vacate – would be the biggest fight in British boxing history. That would sell out Wembley five times over, easy. What fights would you like to see and why? Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are two of the biggest names in world boxing

Rethinking Life

We believed the world was flat, that an eclipse was the work of evil spirits that needed to be pacified with human and animal sacrifice, that drought, and every other weather event was due to angry gods, that the sun, and EVERYTHING else, revolved around us.  Ego much? The point is, that all of those […]
