Theresa May seemed to want the Tory party to become more of a Brexity, working class party of the north and midlands. She did not succeed in the end but I doubt it was her strategy that was at fault. Let me begin with a disclaimer that I may be reading too much into this. […]

◊ CYBERPOETRY ART RAVE EXTREMISM ◊

Mr.Rush. Mr.Zuckerberg, I only have a few more seconds… In November 2017, ProPublica reported that Facebook was still allowing housing advertisements to systemically exclude advertisements to specific racial groups, an explicitly prohibited practice. This is just one example where Facebook has allowed race to improperly play a role. What has Facebook done, and what are […]

DEREK McINNES thought Aberdeen had no chance of signing Craig Bryson when he first targeted him. But his persistence paid off this week when he snapped up the midfielder from Derby County. McInnes during Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen McInnes first discovered the 32-year-old would be heading out of contract this summer 18 months ago. Deep down he thought the former Kilmarnock man would get a better offer in England. But Bryson decided the time was right from him to return to Scotland after eight years at Pride Park. And the Dons were best placed to beat off competition from Hearts, Hibs and Killie for his signature. Bryson in action for Derby in the English Championship McInnes said: “When we looked at the out of contract list 18 months ago Craig was someone who stood out to us. “But we didn’t really think we could get him, truth be told. “The reality usually is that you don’t get certain ones and initially we assumed he would be in that bracket. “Since January though, we have been in constant contact with his agent and we got the message that he wanted to come back to Scotland. “Derby wanted to keep him and he had a strong offer from another Championship club. He could have benefited financially from staying in England. “But he had made his mind up to come back to Scotland and when that happened we felt we’d have a chance. Things have moved quickly and now he’s coming in, so I can’t wait to get working with him. “I have been very impressed by him in the meetings we’ve had and I can see why he’s so highly thought of by the people at Derby. “He is motivated to be here. He wants to play in Europe because that’s something he hasn’t done. Gary Mackay-Steven is still undecided on his future “We’ve lost players, including my captain, so we needed to bring in the right types and the right quality. “In Craig I think we’re getting a proper person and a proper player to the club. “When you make signings you know some will work out and some won’t. “But I feel I can say with some certainty this one is a good move for our club. “There are lots of factors to that. First his ability and the fact Derby wanted to keep him. That wasn’t due to sentiment, it was down to him still being a key player there. “He’s 32, but he’s running 13km a game and sometimes more than that, so his physical output is what you’d expect. “I like his energy, his quality and his experience. Both on and off the pitch I think he’ll have a big influence here. “I’d heard good things about him and since we have started speaking I’m very impressed.” [article-rail-section title=”most read” posts_category=”3″ posts_number=”6″ query_type=”popular” /] Bryson will replace Graeme Shinnie in the Dons midfield and while McInnes insists they are different players, he can see a lot of similar character traits. He said: “Shinnie is Shinnie and Craig is Craig. It’s about getting a quality player. “They both play with a high intensity, they both want to win and they are both real team players. “Craig has consistently played at a high level, so it’s good to work with someone like him. The other players will enjoy it too. “You need good people to set the standard on a daily basis. We already have that and I think Craig will add to it. He will be a big influence on everyone.” McInnes hasn’t given up hope of keeping winger Gary Mackay-Steven at Aberdeen, despite interest from Portsmouth. GMS saw a move to New York fall through, but England is an option. However, McInnes has told him he will have to hurry up if he wants to stay at Pittodrie. He said: “I spoke to Gary on Wednesday and he has a few options to consider. “He’s still undecided. I have reinforced to him that he really wants to be here, like the rest of the players do. “If he picks up the phone to me in the next few days and says he really wants to be here then of course we can pick up on that. “But in the meantime, I am getting on with the job not on that assumption.” Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers from Scottish football plus fixtures, results and live match commentary  [bc_video video_id=”6038401912001″ account_id=”5067014667001″ player_id=”default” embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” max_width=”640px” width=”100%” height=”100%” caption=”Fans baffled as Aberdeen star Stevie May swallows kiwi fruit whole in bizarre Instagram video”]

FREDERICK, M.d. (WDVM) — On the storefronts of about 100 businesses in Frederick is a show of support for the LGBTQ community. The non-profit organization, The Frederick Center, purchased about a $1,000 worth of rainbow pride and transgender pride flags for their first coordinated effort to help businesses show off their inclusivity. The Frederick Center began handing about 200 flags earlier this week, and participating shops, like the Curious Iguana bookshop, said they were eager to go beyond business and support. “I think it’s incredibly important for businesses to be able to stand up and say ‘Look, it is about the money, but it isn’t about the money.’ It’s about being welcoming. We really want to be able to be like ‘Hey, you can come into the bookstore, you can see yourself represented, you can feel welcome,” explained employee at the Curious Iguana bookstore, Lauren Nopenz Fairley. The Frederick Pride celebration will hit downtown Frederick on Saturday. Officials say about 8,000 people are expected to attend.

Beholding the Glory of the Lord

By Adam Brown – Recently, my wife and I started to joke with one another, saying, “Don’t be a Demas.” It’s a way for us to caution one another against being too worldly (I’ll explain it more fully further down in this article). What started as a half-hearted joke, however, has begun to concern us […]
